El Orfanato

The Orphanage

(SHORT)

This is quite similar to 'The Others (Los Otros)'.

The summary pretty much sums most of the film, obviously.

The music will always play a very significant role in a horror/mystery film. I found myself turning down the volume every 10 minutes.

I cried more than I jumped off my chair.

It's a very beautiful film directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, written by Sergio G. Sanchez and produced by the brilliant Guillermo del Toro (El Laberinto del Fauno is breathtaking.)

Sure it's beautiful, but I won't be watching this again, ALONE. I could watch it again with a few other people with me. I made sure that I watched this during the day.

The ending is probably one of the best endings I have seen. Shall I give it away? Basta, it involves a great realization of the heroine, Laura (Belen Rueda), the mystery of Simon's (Roger Princep) disappearance, the history of the orphanage, and death. =) The ending makes you interpret it on your own.

I teared up here when Laura slapped Simon:

Please don't slap a child. =(

Creepy? Not at all, trust me.

Laura and "Tomas". Friends? You'll find out.
