Annual bad news.
Hmm, I seem to have a trend of only posting every year or so when I have bad news to share.
Today's is that I've been cut out of the city budget, and will most likely have no job come Monday. The great part is it seems they meant to cut a different position, not mine, but there was confusion over job titles(I do mostly IT, but I'm listed as Crime Analyst), but with today and tomorrow to finish the budget, it may not matter what they meant to cut.
So I've gone from getting a 10k raise and fixing my job description to show what I really do, to getting no raise at all (along with the rest of the city), to having no job, in about a week and a half.
The union pres hasn't given up yet, but given the timeframe to work in, I'm not too hopeful.
And yes, the city of Fitchburg is going down the tubes. The mayor submitted a budget that was $760,000 out of whack even after the first round of layoffs. Schools lost 50ish people, fire lost 4, several more from various other departments. Police is loosing *all* dispatchers, Animal Control and myself (Crime Analyst / IT)
