(i apologise if this is not what you had in mind :c )

“Why do the best people die early?”
“When you’re in a garden, which flowers do you pick?”
….
“The most beautiful ones.”

They have been best of friends since they were five. Outspoken, brave and friendly Jung Wheein had defended the new, timid and quiet Park Jimin in class when he was picked on by the other bigger kids in school. After sharing her chocolate ice-cream in half with the boy, his tears quickly dried up and ever since then, he followed her around like a lost little puppy.

Jimin enjoyed learning new things, and Wheein had fun feeding his curiosities. She was the one who first taught him how to build a sandcastle - and after that, every time they visited the beach, Jimin would make sure he’d make her the biggest and prettiest sandcastles his little, grubby hands could manage. It made him happy how Wheein would clap her hands in delight and hugged him tightly afterwards.

He liked the warmness of her embrace; it made him feel safe and at home.

She was also the one who taught him how to ride a bike. She stayed by his side, through every wound and blisters - always ready to wipe away his tears with the sleeve of her shirt. She was the one who cleaned up after his wounds and gave him words of encouragements when he felt like giving up. One day, Jimin decided to surprise her by riding all the way to her house and surprised her. Wheein had laughed happily and jumped up in joy. She was the happiest for him and he felt truly elated to have her proud of him.

And he vowed to always be the reason for the smile on her face.

When they were thirteen, Wheein showed him how to climb a tree. Being the patient person she was, she waited and did not even falter even when he felt like he couldn’t make it. She kept pushing him to go forward and alas, he made it to the top and found Wheein grinning proudly at him from the bottom. To show his gratitude (and possibly love) for her, he plucked a ripe apple from the tree and fed it to her.

For the first time, as they sat together under the huge apple tree, Jimin felt this inexplicable rushing feeling through his veins and he remembered Wheein looking exceptionally pretty under the morning sun rays.

They made it through high school together but went their separate ways during college years. Wheein majored in arts and Jimin decided to pursue his passion for dancing. They still made time for each other regardless, choosing to meet up for café dates or simply hanging out by the park, where she would get lost in her drawings and Jimin would entertain her occasionally with his dance.

“You’re an amazing dancer,” she told him one day, eyes shining with admiration when she looked at him. “You’re going to be really famous one day and you’ll get to travel around the world.”

Jimin simply smiled back at his best friend, grateful for her unwavering faith in him - even during those times he did not believe in himself.

“Would you like to follow me then? Travel with me and see the world together.”

Wheein blushed at his gracious offer, yet she nodded in eager. “I would love to. If you don’t mind having me along, of course.”

“Are you kidding me? There is no one else I’d rather be with when I explore the world, other than you.”

She didn’t say anything else, but she did smile before continuing with her drawing. When Jimin took a peek over her shoulder, he could see a replica of himself in black and white.
