change and time

I have been in contact through text messages with a good friend that moved to another state several years ago. In one of the text he stated, "let go back in time". This was in reference to where we both are right now in our lives and what is going on in the U.S. Early in the year he come back to visit his family and we met up. During the conversation we talked about how things are now with the recession and how we could both go back to say the early 90s sometime before "it" hit the U.S. Life goes forward but depending how you feel or what philosophy you have the past is a part of you. Seeing that text reminded me who things were especially between me and him and what was going on at that time in my life.

What i am going to talk about next is probably a sore spot for many. I understand people will not agree but my own thoughts about this have changed. Since the recession we have seen damage done to many things in the U.S. One of them is jobs and connected to that education particularly the issue of college. I went to a community college and luckily did not have any debt problems after graduation. Many are on the opposite end and when finished with college have to deal with the "debt" problem. We have the question pop up is "college worth it?" and i would add to that "how many can afford it"? I have seen the rates for college increase every year and grants and things of this nature can be helpful but with the increases happening so much how many can really keep up? It has been pounded into my generations head the thought of going to college to get a good paying job. With many college graduates not just teenagers but anyone who goes through the college process the opposite is being shown. Many including me have been facing a market that is either frozen meaning little or no hiring. If one wishes to go into college thats great but this whole line of its "a great way to get into the work force" is not true. To me its not the issue of just "giving me a job" but i went through getting these skills and knowledge" now let me have a honest chance to show what i can do. If we dont seriously rethink about this we are going to have a whole lot of educated people who will never have the chance to show what they can do and help the economy and nation.
