Conversation I had with my long lost Floridian brother......
me - true love doesnt' exist.
Chris - Love is eternal, it continues after death.
me - Once you die, your love dies with you.
Chris - How do you know? You're not dead so you cannot know what happens to that love..
me - Ok so since neither of us can know what happens after death we will focus on love as it pertains to our living existance.
Chris - Love can be forever between the right people.... if love is not eternal, then what else do we have to hold on to?
............ what do we have to hold on to? If love is an emotion like any other... (sadness, joy, pride..) then it is as fleeting as the wind and fickle as the tides.... can a wavering emotion be the basis of an eternal concept?
maybe it's somethng we tell ourselves that exists to imagine that somewhere in the world there is a haven from the madness, a rational piece that balances the chaos.... maybe it's a necessary illusion created to maintain order in an uncertain world... a ruse to propagate the species... an assurance to chase the ghosts of loneliness away...
companionship, trust, friendship... those are tangible for moments...
love must be like one of thsoe ancient quests for treasure... either our find it because you were worthy, noble, and brave in your quest ..... or it simply never existed.....
maybe I am not worthy enough...but I have time... I have all the time in the world and I don't mind waiting... time is all I have left...
