I was lucky enough to receive two artists for my story, and both of them blew me away.
cool_rain_kiss did two pieces.
Note from
cool_rain_kiss: One of the scenes that stayed with me for awhile after reading was Frank going out after every storm to watch for any incoming wreckage. I haven't painted in ~eleven years, but I had some extra paints, and I couldn't get that scene out of my head, and I figured I'd experiment! So basically that's what this is - Frank watching the end of the storm to see what washes up. :D
This is so great! I haven't painted in a long time too, and this really makes me want to go back to it. I love the texture of this piece, how the waves really look choppy, and Frank's hair really looks scraggly. I like that the composition is melancholy even though the colors are bright.
This art is for the following scene:
The knots were hardening, solidifying in the salty water, especially now that they were starting to dry out. The sleeves of his shirt had caught in the tangle, and Frank couldn’t rip the sturdy fabric free. A thinner mess of rope had wrapped around his right forearm, up to his elbow, and he could no longer feel the fingers of that hand.
He used his left hand work apart one of the knots. Frank felt so satisfied to have himself partially free that he had to flop over on his back and rest. He was exhausted. His right hand, he noticed, was still clenching tight around the chain of his pocket watch. He couldn’t even force his fingers to move and release it.
I really love this drawing. There's so much detail, it's amazing. And I know hands are hard to draw. I love the glimpses of Frank's tattoos, and the way the pocket watch is caught in the tangle. I'm also really drawn to the button that's hanging by a thread on Frank's ripped sleeve. Thank you so much for these awesome pieces,

And one piece by
kidsxheroes:
I'm a fan of
kidsxheroes artwork, so I was really excited to see this piece when it came to my inbox. I really love the detail of the pocket watch in Frank's hand, the rocks out in the water, and the little sprigs of grass. The texture and the muted color palatte, and how the horizon blends together are what really makes this piece for me. It's just so amazing! A lot of the fic, especially in the draft I sent in, was really introspective, and I think this piece fits that mood perfectly. Thank you so much,
kidsxheroes!
