about time I posted something, huh?
A very general sort of update, since I haven't posted in FOREVER.
So, school is done! Since like, Nov 22nd. \o/ My flight home was very very very very very long, because they didn't show a movie (wtf! you had to pay for it! NOT FAIR.) So instead, I doodled some crazy MCR stuff and scribbled lyrics ALL OVER IT, so it looks sort of like a mess. Add to that the fact that I did it in pen, so any mistakes I made are there forever. But it actually came out kind of cool, I think, even though I totally didn't plan ahead so Toro's like, not even remotely in the picture. And Bob's just like, a little scribble in the background. And Mikey's standing DIRECTLY behind a mic stand, which I drew first. Oooops. But yeah, I'll take a picture or scan it or something. The girl next to me drew something totally awesome, though, with like, mother nature or something? I was trying not to just stare at her, because it was seriously amazing. And she had this really cool mechanical eraser thing that I TOTALLY WANT NOW. I'll have to check Primary for it once I'm back in Savannah.
Since I've been home, I've basically been sitting around the house on my laptop, not talking to anyone. Well, almost anyone. Bandom has consumed my brain like an octopus or something. Every time I get sucked in by one tentacle, another one grabs me. Now I'm completely wrapped up in bandom tentacles. Reading fic nonstop, writing fic, drawing pictures, listening to music....
Oh by the way, I started drawing this one thing last night, and in my mind it was vaguely Gerard, but as I was drawing it like, actually turned into Gerard, only... I effed up and gave him a giraffe neck, and it looks totally stupid now, but I like how his face and how his shoulders came out, so I don't really wanna erase it or anything. I'm not totally in love with his hands, though, so I'm probly just gonna try the pose again some other time. Anyway, what was good about it was that I wasn't using any ref pics! Usually I like, can't draw without ref pics, so this is good! It means I can actually see something clear enough in my head to draw it. \o/
Today I have a piano lesson, which will be interesting considering I haven't practiced in foreverrrrr. And my teacher told me to come early and bring my black&white paintings to show the art class that's right before my lesson. *sigh* Show and Tell is always a bit weird, when it's art.
Oh, did I ever mention I signed up for slashababy? Because I totally did. I need to get working on that, actually, but I'm really not worried in the slightest. Well, the slightest, but that's it. Because in between crazy bandom AU ideas, I've actually gotten some stuff done on it. Of course, it's all very secret. :P
I totally bombed on nano, though. But I'm not too sad about it, because I wasn't really that invested in it anyway. Like, if I'd actually be TRYING, then I'd be pissed, but as it is? Well, you win some, you lose some. Whatever. It was right when all my classes were gearing up for final projects, and Art History was seriously INSANE OMG.
Oh speaking of classes (see, this is what happens when I don't post in FOREVER, I get all sidetracked...). B in Art History (I think I was close to an A, but really, I'm super happy about the B, because OMG.), and an A in both Drawing 1 and 2D Design! My 2D teacher totally loved my work, like LOVED it, and I'm gonna try to get him again for 3D in the spring. One of the drawings I did for my Drawing final came out really cool, too, I need to get pictures of them all and post them. Next quarter: Color Theory (should be fun, the teacher I signed up for has good reviews), Art History 2 (again, an awesome teacher rather than the OMG BORING one I had last quarter), and Public Speaking, which is a requirement, and something I think I really do need.
But being at college has done wonders for my self-confidence. Like, my mom actually commented on it whil we were out shopping the other day, 'cause I just walked up to this girl and was like "hey, I was thinking of buying that hoodie, d'you like it, where'd you get it, blah blah blah..." just out of the blue, which I NEVER would have done before. (It was a Black Parade hoodie, btw, which I'm still planning on buying, because srsly awesome.)
Oh and anyway, back to nano, I was writing a bandom fic that basically followed Gerard through art school to, like, I dunno, a couple years ago (not current, I don't think, 'cause I wasn't planning on including girlfriends/wives and such, but I wanted to keep it canon). Anyway, I don't think I really had enough to stretch it to 50k anyway, so that's why I wasn't all that sad about not making it. But I do still want to finish it, but it'll probably clock in at like, 30k? Maybe? Not sure yet. I got kinda sidetracked anyway by this AU idea I had, with Frank as Gerard's bodyguard, and it's getting quite involved, 'cause Gerard has like, connections in the mob that want to kill him, and Frank's an ex-cop (sorta, kinda...) and a total badass with a gun and stuff.
AND OMG. So, there was this fic that was like, totally amazing, called I Have Been All Things Unholy, where Gerard is a priest and Frank is like, cursed or something. And then a few days ago, the sequel was posted, Staring Through the Demons. If you are at ALL tolerant of bandom, YOU SHOULD READ THESE. SRSLY. AMAZINGNESS. And also, The Rise and Fall of the Black Parade, because that one's really awesome too, and now those characters' backstory is the only thing I can think of when listening to that album. LOL there's so much awesome fic, it's crazy. Just look at my del.icio.us.
And to convince you of bandom's awesomeness, first check out mychemicalromance.com, where Bob talks to fans (and Gerard) through twitter, Gerard goes on a posting spree, and Frank fangirls him because of it. Also, Ray being a geek and Mikey being... Mikey. :D
