So I've realized why I haven't been posting anything lately. It's because as soon as whatever it is happens, I tell Raquel, and then I FORGET it. Seriously, I don't know if I can remember everything that I've wanted to say here in the past... what, week? Or so. Anyway, here's what I CAN remember of the big important things.
1) Piano recital.
It went... okay. On the whole, it went very well. (Background info: the main part of the recital is held in a little showroom with 6 pianos, while the two ensemble pieces are done in the main showroom, and practically every single piano in the place is used.)
Ensemble #1, Toy Story, was awful, but only because I didn't have a chance to even touch the piano beforehand, and the way the light was angled was SO DAMNED DISTRACTING, like, you have no idea how distracting that was. OMG. Anyways, I had to keep stopping so I wouldn't play the complete wrong things, but YAY FOR ME, I managed to come back in a measure before my solo and play from there to the end (sort of).
Then Ensemble #2, Chopsticks, was much better. My piano was directly across from Tiffany's, and because I didn't have a solo and she didn't end up playing her solo, we just had the easy part that everybody knows, which I can play, literally, with my eyes closed. So we made faces at each other during that. LOL
Then, erm, my piece. I played The Snowman by Howard Blake, and I edited together bits and pieces of some old home movies of my dad's family when he was like, 2 years old. My feelings about the whole video thing are quite mixed, and my sister and I agree on the point that we don't want to do something unique and interesting and stuff, because these recitals are nerve wracking enough as it is. (She, by the way, animated a little spinning top to go with her piece, a duet with the teacher.) Anyway, I was SO NERVOUS about trying to play the right speed and line up with the movie, and about playing on yet another piano with more distracting lighting. I somehow managed to get through the part I was most worried about.... only to complete freak out and have to stop. I HAD THE MUSIC RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME OMG. *HEADDESK* So I stopped, sighed, and picked up with the next section, and somehow managed to end up nearly in time with the movie.
Afterward, Tiffany said it looked like a grand pause, but she knew something was up when I sighed. And THEN she said that the sighing was alright ('cause at that point I kinda freaked out), and that it just looked like I was counting. O.o I hope so. I'm sure I'll be talking about it during my next lesson. AT LEAST IT'S OVER.
Oh, also, my teacher's having ANOTHER recital, for all the seniors she teaches, since we'll all be leaving next year. It's in June, I think, and I need a song for it. ANY IDEAS? I want something that's very me. Maybe something by John Williams, or another movie theme. Sadly, I've already played most of the Lord of the Rings music, and besides that, it's not quite hard enough. Hmmm.
2) FREAK WEATHER OMG.
- It is now spring, and it has been snowing practically every day since, I dunno, last week sometime.
- At this very moment, it's snowing and storming, sort of. Kind of like
graupel, only... not? I don't know, it's weird.
- It now feels like Dazzle broke my kneecap with her skull as she was running away from the door in terror after hearing thunder. OWW.
3)
School! Okay, so, there's like a ton of stuff I need to say about school. Like, it needs it's own post or something, 'cause this one is starting to get crazy long and I haven't even said anything substantial yet. Okay, so, um... I'll write about school later. Right now I'll just say that my Italian class is now 15 people, and 3 or 4 of those are new people (I know, new students in 103? wtf?) and my Sexualities class is like, 48 with a 15-person waitlist. >.< It looks like it's gonna be fun, though. And since we actually didn't do a whole lot today, I don't really have a lot to say about it yet.
4) My art project is coming along nicely. I have pictures that I haven't uploaded to my computer yet, and continuing the whole paper mache process is on my list of things to do whenever I find the time to get messy. As is uploading the photos. Not that that's messy, just that.. erm, nevermind.
5) If you somehow missed the other post,
VOTE FOR DAZZLE, SO SHE CAN WIN STUFF!
6) Oh yes, before I forget (again).
giddy_london and
pippinmctaggart: I watched Top Gear this weekend. And kinda fell in love with it. As did the rest of my family. Yeah, it's like, completely awesome. LOL
7) Megan: ♥ *HUGS*
8) Because I can't leave it at just 7. OH, now I remember what I was going to say! I saw The Other Boleyn Girl. Hmm. Yeah, that definitely needs a post of its own.
