the huge art spam omg

Jan 06, 2008 00:52

yeah, so all those times I said I'd upload pics of my paintings and stuff? and it never happened? well, NOW IT HAS.

beginning with the VERY VERY OLD stuff. like, from a gazillion years ago, when I was little.

Calvin & Hobbes!! that was so long ago, omg. probably around 10 years old, give or take a couple years. more recently...

a still life. the objects look kind of crappy, but I am kinda proud of what I did with the candle effect. this was still several years ago.

project with my sister! I think I was the one who originally conceived of the idea. the one on the right was done by me, and the left done by her. and yeah, my table is missing a table leg, I know. *FACEPALM*

one of the few watercolors I'm actually proud of.

I think I did this one for Mother's Day or something... anyway, one of the other few watercolors I'm proud of.

this is... omg, was it really 2 years ago? I think so. anyway, the huge ginormous project our art class did was copy Van Gogh pictures, because the Van Gogh exhibit was coming to the art museum. these paintings took an INCREDIBLY long time. I did this one, obviously; my sister did the olive trees one, and my friend (who models in some of the later pics you'll see here) did one that Van Gogh did while at the hospital. I don't know the official titles, sorry. I wanted to do Starry Starry Night, but that one didn't come to the museum, I don't think, and this painting's awesome too.

alright, now, starting with some unfinished ones:

Cate. I started this during my visit to Atlanta this past summer.

Rodrigo Santoro. I started this one before the Cate one and haven't finished it either...

BOROMIR. yay. this is a pic from the LotR calendar. I've also done Bilbo and Frodo out of that, but the Bilbo one doesn't look as impressive, and the Frodo one is LOST. GONE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT IS. 'tis sad. :( I am quite proud of this Boromir one, though.

BUT, I'm not technically allowed to copy photos for my portfolio, so, we put together a few photoshoots. my best friend is the girl model, and one of her friends reluctantly volunteered to model for us as well. he was a bit shy at first, but once he took his shirt off, he was totally fine with it. and I tried to pose him in, erm, not-quite-blatantly-sexual poses. I may have failed at that, though. LOL

by the way, some of them are a bit warped and curved, which makes them look a bit odd in a few shots. they actually look slightly better proportioned than that in real life. LOL

an unfinished one of my friend's neck. it's giving me so much trouble that I've given up for the moment.

god, she's beautiful. there's probably like, 200 photos of her in this pose.

my most recently finished painting (although in this photo, it's not QUITE finished yet).

here's both of them together, and this is the finished version of the guy.

and finally, here's the one I've just started. I was doing measurements on the photo yesterday at art class, and everything was turning out the same, it was so weird! like, y'know how your eyes are in the middle of your face, and your hairline's (typically) half the distance between your eyes and the top of your head, and your nose and mouth are evenly divided in the lower part? well, it was like that, but with his body. the length of his arm is the same length as the nape of his neck to his jeans, his knee to his arse, the lower cuff of his jeans to his shoulder, etc. I just think that's so cool. anyway, this pic is coming along fantastically, and I got all that done on it only yesterday. I'm hoping (though slightly doubtful) that I'll be able to finish it this weekend.

there's a pic from the photoshoot of this guy with his wrists together at the small of his back, and it was a completely accidental shot; he was moving his arms and my sister happened to snap the photo at the right moment, but when I saw it, I had a huge facepalm moment. WHY DIDN'T I MAKE HIM POSE LIKE THAT? maybe there'll be another photoshoot, I dunno. I hope so, now that I have some poses better laid out in my head. lol

and so ends the art spam. I hope you enjoyed, and concrit is more than welcome, if you so desire.
