Last night was a horrible, horrible night for me at work. Things were insanely busy at the pizza place where I struggled to keep up with everyone else. When I drive, I normally don't speed much, but I decided to make an exception last night.
For most of the night I tried to weave in and out of traffic, trying to get pizza to people as fast as I could. Most of the pizza ended up being a hour late, some two. Before things died down, Ryan told me that Steve (one of the managers) complained that I was being slow. Ryan suggested that I step it up, maybe
speed a little more. I argued with him that I didn't speed when I drive, and I wasn't going to make any exceptions for this job. "Come on, just 10, 20 over! I speed 50 over all the time and I've never been caught!"
I had to make a delivery after I had the arguement with Ryan and on the way back from the drop off, I decided to step it up a little. I was doing 70 in a 50 zone where a undercover cop decided to pull me over. I couldn't believe it, out of all the nights I could have been pulled over, it had to be last night. I sent a few angry messages to Ryan bitching at him and swearing that I would never listen to him ever ever ever EVER again.
So now I'm stuck with a $140 ticket payable until nov 22, and no, I'm not going to fight it. I WAS speeding so I will accept the consequences and never make that mistake again. Besides, it's hard to try to fight my ticket where I was speeding in a residential area, so I'm not going to bother. It's hard to believe that this is my first actual ticket ever. I've been pulled over a few times (mostly check stops) but I never got a ticket or anything.
Richard told me that if someone wants me to hurry up, ask them if they're paying for my tickets, insurance and all that crap, and see what they say. It's just not worth it.
Don't speed!
