Came across a thing that is something to think about. There is same sex female couple who want to utilize donor sperm to make an offspring. Now for the insurance paperwork there are questions like the following. Have you and your partner been having unprotected sex for more than one calendar year? Have you or your partner had children with any other partners? Other things that I have already forgotten. So after one year of unsuccessful trying there are things that insurance will cover, and there many things to do. Ultimately, this woman will require intra uterine insemination at the least, and before that she will need baseline labs, ovulation tracking, a baseline sonogram, a histerosalpingogram to see if the fallopian tubes are patent, and all the things traditionally required to check a woman for any fertility issues before they go ahead and use $800 donor sperm to attempt a pregnancy in an expensive procedure which is still much cheaper than IVF. I suppose this would be the same challenge facing a single woman wanting to utilize donor sperm and perhaps the insurance makes allowances. I don't actually know. Also I probably forgot a few necessary sonograms and labs, it sounded like a lot of things to pay for out of pocket if that is what is required. A few months ago a fellow student commented on the relative selfishness of wanting a biological child versus an adopted one, and the person leading pointed out the positive of being in control of what the child was exposed to in utero and the fact that bonding to mother begins in the womb per experiments with mother repeating phrases throughout the pregnancy led to biophysical calming of the baby ex utero when the same phrases were repeated. Besides the whole experience of pregnancy which some people desire for some reason.
