File under "Apparently Mediocre Things That Are In Reality Awesome":

Board-game cafes.

If this were the US, it might be a flash-in-the-pan fad and then they'd all go out of business. Here, apparently, they're a common thing, and I just spent an awesome two hours playing Jenga and Halli-Galli (Korean card game) with people from work. It's just like it sounds: you go in, sit down, order some coffee, and pick a game from their catalog. I think you have to rent the games, actually, this being Korea (I'm not sure, since I didn't pay) but, still: awesome. The place comes equipped with plastic squeaky mallets and big clown wigs, for the Deliberately Zany, but I didn't feel they were necessary. Of course, it was just us: I guess that either the place we went to is getting less popular, or their crowds mostly come in during the day; I think they closed at midnight.

And then we had food, which was also good. ^_^

games, work, friday nights, silly, fun, korea, friends
