So: hurray for forgetting to write down the date of the English Department Faculty Retreat. And hooray (hurray? hooray? feh) for showing up five minutes late to an eight-o'clock class that wasn't there, then going all the way to the department building to make sure the empty classroom wasn't a cruel hoax designed to punish the tardy. I've been up and down since then, but I could certainly have used the extra hour of sleep this morning. I've had a sore throat and runny nose all day, and I'd like nothing better than to go back to the 'partment this evening and eat something, then do some homework and hang out with the roommates and go to bed.
What I shall be doing instead is attending a recital of South Indian classical music required for my World Music class. I wouldn't mind, really, except that I know almost nothing about South Indian classical music and am unlikely to appreciate it, and that I am missing two hours of work tonight to go to this thing. I very much hope there will be recital credit for this, considering that it's all the way down at the Fine and Performing Arts Center and I've got to walk (as I can't bring myself to use my car just to get around on campus). Though it occurs to me I could ride the shuttle, if I really wanted to. Dilemmas, dilemmas.
Post-concert, I'll be making a stab at practicing, even though I haven't sung outside of choir and one (brief) lesson since getting sick more than a week ago. Not sure why I'm sharing the details of my day, but if anyone cares they can wish me luck and an end to post-nasal drip.
