Cal likes to watch.
Employees, suspects, postmen and politicians, the occasional confused tourist who wanders in off the street… No one escapes his invasive interest.
He’s particularly interested in her.
No doubt he thinks he’s being clever, using their surveillance system to satisfy his compulsion. Bending their line to gratify his needs. But if she’s very still, she can feel the faint thrum of something-electric current or forbidden pull-passing through the walls between them.
She isn’t supposed to know, of course. Just like she isn’t supposed to know why he likes to follow a step or two behind her, or what he does when he’s alone with his footage.
But Cal isn’t the only one with access to cameras.
