3. Character Information II
Age/Appearance: Grimmjow's actual age is unknown, thanks to the disparity between how time flows between worlds. Plus, arrancar evolution states that he's not, technically, a single entity anymore, so it's highly debatable how old he really is. He looks to be no more than 20 or so, with electric blue hair, and eyes. He's tall, and muscular enough to use his height to intimidate people. The most obvious things besides the hair and eyes, though, are the large hollow hole straight through Grimmjow's stomach, and the jawbone-like mask fragment still attached to his face.
History: Grimmjow comes from what is actually three ( or more, depending on how you view the canon material ) worlds that are interconnected. There is the human world, which is pretty much the same as our modern day surroundings, the Soul Society, which is something like the western religious concept of "heaven" ( although it is far from a paradise as the story shows ) and Hueco Mundo, the opposite of Soul Society in many ways.
Hueco Mundo is the dimension that souls who have become "hollows" eventually are drawn to. That is to say, those souls who died with some form of regret, anger, or something that kept them from moving on naturally to Soul Society. Fans have made the "hell" analogy, and it isn't very far off. The land is an arid desert made up of crystalline sand as far as the eye can see. The creatures that roam it are all hollows of varying strengths. There is no sun, and no stars, only a pitch black sky with a constantly crescent-shaped moon. There is no weather, only wind, and it is eerily silent except for the occasional howls of various hollows. While Hueco Mundo is more like purgatory than 'hell' it's still a place of desolation, and pain.
This is the world which Grimmjow comes from. Before being turned into an Arrancar by Aizen Sousuke, Grimmjow was a panther-like Adjuchas-class Menos. However, he was also much smaller than the average Adjuchas usually would appear, and thus over unknown centuries of consuming souls, his memories all consisted of hunting, death, and survival. ( Please see the BLEACH wiki entry on Hollows, and Arrancar for details on how their evolution progresses ) Due to his smaller than usual size, Grimmjow was often underestimated, or viewed as easy prey, when in fact, the opposite was true. Being smaller gave him speed, and made it more difficult for larger hollows to keep up with him in a fight. This cat-like agility has since stayed with him through his change into an Arrancar.
During a flashback we do see a part of this very bleak past; specifically how Grimmjow came to know his fraccion, before any of them were made into Arrancar; an Adjuchas-class Menos group of Shawlong Kūfang, Edorad Liones, Yylfordt Grantz, Nakeem Greendina, and Di Roy Linker. Di Roy decided to eat him but before Di Roy could act, Grimmjow attacked him and ate a chunk of Di Roy's head. The group was impressed at his strength and they introduced themselves. Their leader Shawlong asked that Grimmjow joined them, but more than that they willingly bowed to Grimmjow. Shawlong then explained that they had no intention of remaining Adjuchas or Gillians. They vowed to become Vasto Lordes, but in order to do that they needed strength that they can use to pull themselves up and they had seen that strength in Grimmjow. Shawlong asked Grimmjow to lead them. To become their King.

Later, after another unknown span of time, all of the Adjuchas that followed Grimmjow slowly, but surely gave up on this goal of becoming Vastro Lorde. Again, it was Shawlong who told Grimmjow that they realized now that maybe they were never meant to be stronger, that they all accepted this as fact, and whats more; they wanted Grimmjow to remain their King. Because of that, they wanted him to eat a part of all of them so that when Grimmjow did become stronger, in a way, so they would become stronger, too. ( Again, please refer to BLEACH wiki entry for Hollow evolution for a properly detailed explanation )
We do not know how long it was before Grimmjow, and his followers met with Aizen, only that eventually they were all made into Arrancar. But it was Grimmjow who became one of the elite - the Espada - and rose through the ranks steadily, with his followers as his loyal Fraccion.

In fact, the very first appearence in BLEACH manga of Grimmjow was the night he, and his Fraccion raided Karakura Town. After a terrific battle, in which all of Grimmjow's Fraccion were killed, and Grimmjow, himself, had engaged Ichigo is it revealed that Grimmjow had gone against orders, and without permission, purely because he saw Ichigo as the only real threat in the coming war. Something of an irony, then, that during that first fight, Grimmjow beat Ichigo rather badly, and would likely have killed him had he not been forced to return to Hueco Mundo.

The rebellion, and early warning to the Soul Society of Aizen's army's existence did not go unpunished. Upon returning, and facing Aizen, Grimmjow is somewhat petulant, and it's there that we see just how much Grimmjow really does dislike, if not outright despise his maker. Kaname Tousen, another of the traitor captains to the Gotei, chastises Grimmjow for foolishly squandering the lives of his Fraccion, but Aizen is more concerned at giving away a small portion of his plans. In punishment, Grimmjow's arm is cut off right there in the throne room, and he is stripped of his position as Sexta Espada. Instead the position is given to an Arrancar named Luppi, and Luppi seems to take great pleasure in rubbing this fact in for Grimmjow at every available oppurtunity. Needless to say, this is all part of the same "punishment" being carried out, however Luppi is unaware of that.

Later, after more time passes both in Karakura Town, and Hueco Mundo, Aizen seems to give Grimmjow an odd second chance; he sends Grimmjow along with the mission to Karakura to collect Inoue Orihime. Naturally, when Grimmjow sets foot in Karakura, he takes off immeadiately to go look for Ichigo, and to finish their fight. In the month since they had last crossed swords, Ichigo has not only wanted to settle the score too, but he also reveals his Vizard mask to Grimmjow, much to Grimmjow's utter shock.
This time, it's Ichigo who is rather soundly beating Grimmjow. Right up until Ichigo's mask shattered, and the tables turned again. Both Ichigo, and Grimmjow were surprised by the mask shattering, but Grimmjow took immeadiate advantage of Ichigo's weakness, and not only beats Ichigo within an inch of his life, again, but pins Ichigo's wrist to the street with Pantera - Grimmjow's zanpakutou. Saved at first by Kuchiki Rukia, Ichigo seems abashed that he couldn't recall his mask. But, Grimmjow was hardly finished, yet, and broke out of the ice encasing him from Rukia's hakuren. In fact, Grimmjow came very close to blowing Rukia's head off, right in front of a helpless Ichigo.
Both of whom are saved by Hirako Shinji, the vizard that had recruited Ichigo for training in how to deal with Ichigo's inner hollow. Shinji then proceeds to fight with Grimmjow, and demonstrates what a vizard with proper training, and more experience with his hollow mask is capable of; beating the daylights out of an Espada. An enraged Grimmjow pulls out his Zanpakutou and begins to release, but, again, before Grimmjow could finish the fight, he was stopped, and called back to Hueco Mundo by Ulquiorra Cifer, the Cuarta Espada.

Once there, all the Espada discover that the entire reason for this mission was not to beat the advance team of shinigami, but only to distract them in order for Ulquiorra to kidnap Inoue Orihime. Who, on Aizen's behest, heals Grimmjow's severed arm as a demonstration of her completely unique healing capabilities. Grimmjow has her bring back his Espada tattoo, as well, thus reinstating him. And his first act as the restored Sexta is to impale Luppi with his bare hand straight through the chest, then incinerate the upper half of Luppi's body with a Cero.
Naturally, once Ichigo discovered Orihime had been kidnapped, he went against orders from the leader of the Gotei, Yamamoto Soutaichou, and along with Ishida Uryuu, and Yasutora Sado, asked Urahara Kisuke to help them get to Hueco Mundo. All three were later joined by Kuchiki Rukia, Abarai Renji, and the odd trio of arrancar; Nel tu, Pesche, and Dondochaka.
The little group, for the sake of finding, and saving their friend, fough their way through Hueco Mundo, and Aizen's stronghold meeting hollows, and Arrancar alike. However when Ichigo faced off with the Cuarta Espada Ulquiorra Cifer for the first time, he was beaten terribly, and left to die after Ulquiorra put his hand through Ichigo's chest.
That single favor of healing Grimmjow's tattoo saved Ichigo's, and Orihime's life. When the two lower-level, female Arrancar Loly, and Menoly came to Orihime's room with the intent of hurting her, all out of jealousy for what Loly saw as "special treatement" from Aizen, Grimmjow burst in, and brutally beat both of them. They would surely have died, had Orihime not surprised all three Arrancar by healing Loly, and Menolly by her own choice.
Grimmjow did take a moment to inform Orihime that he wasn't saving her out of kindness, or anything like it. He was only "returning the favor", and that Orihime would be very stupid to believe that Grimmjow was her friend in any way. In his mind, they were now even.
True to form, he then bound Orihime, gagged her, and took her to where Ulquiorra had left Ichigo to die after putting his hand through Ichigo's chest. Grimmjow did nothing more than sit down, and demand she heal Ichigo, though he did state that the reason he was helping Ichigo was because "Ulquiorra had not right to steal his ( Grimmjow's ) prey". In a strange way, it hints at the strict code that Grimmjow follows. He doesn't bother to explain himself most of the time, so this was a bit of a revelation to Orihime.

However, as Orihime was healing Ichigo, Ulquiorra came back to demand what it was Grimmjow thought he was doing. Grimmjow, being Grimmjow, smarted off about "stealing my prey" and taunted Ulquiorra by saying Ulquiorra was somehow afraid to fight Grimmjow.
This, of course, meant a fight ensued between the Sexta, and Cuarta Espada, though Grimmjow didn't finish that fight so much as take Ulquiorra out of the battle by using Caja Negación to seal away Ulquiorra, if only for a little while. He then demands for Orihime to continue healing Ichigo, to which she refuses as she knows he just plans to hurt Ichigo more. Even when Grimmjow grabbed her around the throat, and threatened her, Orihime stood up to the Sexta Espada, and adamantly refused. It was Ichigo who got up and told Grimmjow to let her go, then he asks Orihime to continue to heal him and then Grimmjow who had taken damage from Ulquiorra's Cero. Ichigo wanted them both to be able to fight on equal ground.
When both are healed, Ichigo tells Orihime to stay back, where it was safe, and to use her shields to protect herself. Orihime complies with Ichigo's wishes, and stays on the sidelines for the remainder of this fight; fightened for Ichigo, but also believing he would win.
At first, ichigo, and Grimmjow trade blows, and after nearly taking Ichigo's head off with a Cero, Grimmjow demands that Ichigo fight at his best. But, it's not until Grimmjow aims a Gran Rey Cero, possibly on purpose, or possibly on accident at Orihime does Ichigo use his vizard mask again.
Once Grimmjow sees that mask, he laughs, stating that was it, that Grimmjow believed Ichigo was taking this fight seriously, now, and in return Grimmjow would too. For the first time in the series, Grimmjow releases his zanpakutou, using Resurreccion form; Pantera.
The fight starts with Grimmjow on the offensive, and Ichigo being once again beaten rather soundly. The fight escalates in ferocity from there, both opponents taking, and giving damage, and again Grimmjow came close to hitting Orihime ( though this time it seems to have been pure reckless accident, rather than intent ) with the claw-darts fired from the elbows of his armor. Ichigo once again saves Orihime at the cost of himself, tells her not to worry, and jumps back into the fray.
But the true turning point was Orihime calling to Ichigo that she didn't want him to be hurt anymore. In tears, Orihime begs Ichigo not be hurt anymore, especially not on her account, and the next time Grimmjow comes at Ichgio, the young vizard not only stops the blow barehanded, but turns to look at Grimmjow with a smile. Ichigo states that he's sorry, but he can't take anymore punishment, and then takes the offensive carving through Grimmjow's bone-like armor in Resurreccion with a deep slash. The fight goes on, with Ichigo being badly injured more than once, and Grimmjow finally admitting that he hated the way Ichigo's eyes looked. That he hated anyone who looked down on him, and Ichigo more so because Ichigo always looked like he was going to win, no matter how badly Grimmjow hurt him, beat him down, still Ichigo wouldn't be defeated.
It's actually after both combatants are wearing down that Grimmjow uses his greatest technique, Desgarrion. It's meant as a range attack; glowing extensions of Grimmjow's claws form, meant to rip an opponent apart, much as Grimmjow would do in close combat, but with the added bonus of range so the opponent wouldn't be able to injure Grimmjow in return. Ichigo, while pushed back by this attack responds by telling Grimmjow that Grimmjow isn't the only one who wants to win. That Ichigo is going to win, that Ichigo would fight, and defeat all the Espada, then Aizen, and take each, and every one of his friends home from Hueco Mundo safely. And, through sheer force of will shatters Desgarrion, and finally ending the fight by stabbing Grimmjow through the chest.
Despite this, and despite the beating sending Grimmjow to his limit, and forcing his Resurreccion to dissolve, Grimmjow wakes up a few minutes after Ichigo lowered him to the ground, and actually attempts to stand, and fight again. Grimmjow states it's because he can't lose to someone like Ichigo. Ichigo attempts to reason with Grimmjow, telling him that if Grimmjow wanted to fight that bad, he could come pick a fight with Ichigo anytime he liked, but for right now, the fight was over, and Grimmjow needed to let it rest. Ichigo asks what the point was of being the king of an empty kingdom. It's actually shown that Ichigo was getting through to him, that Grimmjow did consider letting the fight rest...but Grimmjow's pride wouldn't allow him to admit defeat. Grimmjow's entire identity was based on being "the best". And Grimmjow could not stomach defeat, yet still be alive to endure it. So, in a way Grimmjow was insisting that Ichigo finish it. That the fight wasn't over yet, despite Ichigo thinking it was.
But, at that particular moment, Nnoitra Jiruga hit Grimmjow from behind, effectively blindsiding him, and taking Grimmjow out of the fighting completely. Nnoitra, disgusted with Grimmjow for not only getting beaten by Ichigo, but to be too stupid to realize he was defeated, moves to kill Grimmjow, but to eveyone's shocked surprise, especially Grimmjow's, Ichigo steps in from of the fallen Espada, and stops Nnoitra's blade.

That is the last time we see, or hear from Grimmjow to date. It is assumed he did not die, and it has been stated that Captain Unohana of the Fourth Division has been healing Gotei forces, and the Arrancar she comes across, so it's very possible that Grimmjow will make a reappearence. We really just don't know.

Personality:
Grimmjow, at first glance, seems to be rather apathetic to the world in general. This is true, to a point; quick to anger, and a lethal fighter, Grimmjow is very much a predator, even in a land of natural predators such as Hueco Mundo.
The Sexta (6th ) Espada in Aizen Sosuke’s army, Grimmjow is tempermental to a fault. Witty, sarcastic, cynical, and abrasive, this Arrancar has very few allies, fewer friends, and enemies to spare…but, then again, he rather prefers it that way.

Despite being ranked among the elite of Aizen’s army, Grimmjow is by no means an utterly loyal, and obedient soldier. In fact, his first appearance in the manga was through a violation of orders, and an early attack on the shinigami, and substitute shinigami-Kurosaki Ichigo-for Karakura Town.
Of the Espada, Grimmjow is the only one to drop the honorific for Aizen’s name when not in his lord’s presence. He is quick to challenge the 4th Espada, Ulquiorra Cifer, as well, and seems to confidently believe himself to be stronger.
This confidence, to a degree, is a counter balance to the deep insecurities Grimmjow carries-not about his own power, or prowess in battle, but the fact that he feels so little in the way of variant emotion. In later chapters it is sighted that each of the ten Espada represent an aspect of death, and Grimmjow’s is sighted as “destruction”. Destruction to the point of self-destruction is aptly put for the Sexta’s temper, and the fact that his anger has consumed so much of his ‘self’ that it bothers him to not be able to feel very much as acutely.
He's never really had friends, only subordinates. Any and all relationships always boil down to either being a subordinate/dominate dynamic, or opponents in some way, shape or form.

Sexual Preferences/Orientation: Sex is far less a driving force to arrancar/hollows ( i.e. dead things ) than consuming souls. The reproductive drive atrophes, and turns instead into just another means of gaining dominance, or comfort, or what little pleasure there is to be had outside of eating. Sex in itself is rare, but since the ratio of male, to female hollows is very skewed, it's more often two male hollows will engage in it than a male, and female.
That said, Grimmjow has a reputation for being 'a conqueror'. Men, women, it's all the same. He's more interested in dominance, and control than genders, and social norms. Purely pansexual, and proud to be so.

Grimmjow treated his Fraccion as something akin to 'soldiers', rather than 'friends', though he only ever experimented with Il Forte one time. Still, the same drive to find stronger opponents to fight against carries over into the bedroom. Sex with Grimmjow is a rough affair, but if there's one thing he prides himself on, it's that he's never had to force anyone. His ego is enough to make him actually be conscientious of his partner enough that they would enjoy themselves. Still, he chooses partners carefully, and sex almost always involves a lot of grappling, biting, and maybe a little blood. However being 'a challenge' in the bedroom is different from being 'a challenge' on the battlefield. Grimmjow loves the thrill of the chase, and if he finds someone that catches his eye enough for it, he is aggressive about what he wants, and has no problem saying so.

Powers: If needed any, or all of these powers can be amended according to Mod's desire. I'm aware Bleach characters are ridiculously overpowered.

Soul Eating: Being a hollow, Grimmjow must consume other souls in order to sustain his energy, and just because it fills the missing 'void' inside all corrupted souls. He is capable of eating 'part' of a soul, leaving the victim still alive, but he doesn't like to. In-game, this would of course be subject completely to other mun's wishes, or inferred through NPC's only. It should also be noted that he doesn't need to consume a large quantity too often, despite the fact he would probably want to.

Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant: He is a very proficient hand-to-hand combatant, possessing considerable masterful skill using it as his primary means of attack. He is equally lethal using punches and kicks as well as being highly unpredictable. His fighting technique is incredibly destructive, using his speed and reflexes to quickly take out his opponents. He is skilled enough to even hold his own against stronger opponents for short amounts of time.

Expert Swordsmanship Specialist: Although he usually prefers hand-to-hand combat, Grimmjow is also able to fight effectively with his Zanpakutō. He is shown holding his own against Ichigo who at the time was using Bankai and Hollowfied, when he only had one arm. He then is shown holding his own against Shinji Hirako as Shinji wore his Hollow mask. In one-on-one battle against Ichigo, he is seen showing considerable skill in swordsmanship.

Pesquisa: Grimmjow has demonstrated this ability when he and his Fracción invaded Karakura Town, during which he displayed he could detect targets from a considerable distance.

Enhanced Strength: Grimmjow is shown using his strength to push back Ichigo with little effort. He is shown throwing Ichigo at a considerable distance using Ichigo's own sword that he had grabbed a hold of during an attack. His kicks are strong enough to strike an opponent with enough force to have them sent flying with enough force to destroy several buildings in the surrounding area. He was also shown impaling Luppi, his temporary Espada replacement, through the chest with his bare hand, and with relative ease despite the other's Hierro.

Monstrous Reiatsu His spirit energy is very high, noted by Rukia in his first canon appearence to be "worlds apart" from his Fracción and making her wonder if he was even the same species.

Highly Perceptive Combatant: Grimmjow is able to discern from simple observation that upon his first fight with Ichigo that his Bankai enhanced Getsuga Tenshō was damaging his body. He also notes that Ichigo is capable of 2 to 3 more of those attacks at best. Upon his second fight with Ichigo, he makes note that Ichigo was straining to use his Hollowfication for as soon as his mask came off his breathing instantly became quicker, but he notes that it may not be so simple as that, denoting that it must have something to do with him having taken so much damage or because he's lost too much spiritual energy or maybe that it has a limit to the amount of time he can use it. Upon his third fight with Ichigo, he notes that he extended the amount of time he can stay in his masked state.

Cero: Grimmjow is capable of firing a red Cero from the palm of his hand, as well as his fist. He has shown firing it at point-blank range to increase its lethality as when he incinerates the top half of Luppi after regaining his arm and rank. He again uses it at point-blank range against Menoly, incinerating her. His Cero is powerful enough to neutralize the Cero of fellow Espada Ulquiorra Cifer during their brief scuffle, even though it badly burned his right arm from his hand to his elbow. Grimmjow has also shown the ability to fire one Cero from each hand, though not both at the same time.
------Gran Rey Cero: As an Espada, he is able to use this Espada-exclusive Cero variant, which produces a much larger and more powerful version of the normal Cero, enough to potentially cause great damage to Las Noches itself. For this reason, Aizen banned its use inside the fortress, although Grimmjow clearly ignored this during his last battle with Ichigo. In order to fire it, it seems Grimmjow must first cut his own hand on his Zanpakutō, mixing his blood with the Cero. Grimmjow's Gran Rey Cero is colored blue. He has trouble with this type of Cero though, it's unwieldy, and difficult for him to control. Therefore he doesn't use it much, and in canon? Only once.

Resurreccion; Grimmjow releases his zanpakutou, and transforms himself. His body is covered in bone-like armor, hands, and feet become clawed, ears elongate like a cats, and he has a tail. Grimmjow's Resurreccion is "Pantera" ( Panther ) so his transformation is cat-like. He's a hand-to-hand fighter, using speed, agility, and brutally powerful punches, and kicks to beat his opponents with his bare hands.
Also in Resurreccion, Grimmjow can roar, using the soundwave as a low-level weapon, fire claw-darts from his elbows - the equivalent of small, but highly explosive projectiles - and use Desgarrion; his claws glow and then he makes a slashing motion that creates giant "claws" of solidified energy from the end of each finger. The attacks act as a ranged claw attack, which he controls like his regular claw attacks, by using slashing motions. The power and force behind them is considerable, but it is his final, and greatest ability. He does not use it lightly.

Sonido; which means "Echo-step" refers to the Arrancar version of shinigami's "shunpo" ability. Grimmjow can move so fast he blurs in, and out of sight.

Reason for playing: Grimmjow's greatest sin is his pride. It's what drives his destructive nature, and just about the only thing he really has left that he can call his own. He's strong, but never strong enough, and in a City of Sin, he'd be right at home. In canon, he's always constrained by a chain of command, and other arrancar, plus Aizen lording it over him. If he was truly allowed to cut loose, and just follow his own baser nature, he could be a an excellent villain, or at best the sort of 'chaotic neutral' influence to shake things up. Bete Noire is already home to a tiny Bleach cast, so having a few who know him already would just be icing on the cake.

While I already play Tensa Zangetsu in the Bleach AU cast, he's a quiet muse, and it's easily possible to play off the other Bleach cast members, yet never have any actual interaction between Grimmjow, and Zangetsu. Mostly, because Zangetsu is such a recluse, I am really wanting to be able to play someone else. Sort of the opposite end of the spectrum from my current character haha.

First-Person: Here ( links to Capeandcowl where I played Grimmjow previously, but will not be considered as canon for Grimmjow in Bete Noire )

Third-Person:
You're keeping in step
In the line
Got your chin held high and you feel just fine
Because you do
What you're told
But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold

He has been laying still for so long. What feels like thousands of years.
Just being still.
Listening to the wind.

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

He knows there's a difference in the sound of the wind. There's been a difference since the last was conscious of the world at all. But it's hardly worth opening his eyes. Hardly worth thinking about. Instead his mind is filled with other things. The death knell to pride, and for a creature like him, sometimes pride is the only thing one has left, anymore.
In that moment, he had been too shocked to move. Too shocked to try and block the blade.
No...
No that is a lie. And he knows it. He had been shocked, yes, but he was most shocked by that man's...that child's resolve. That boy had more conviction in a single memory, than Grimmjow had in his entire being. It was terrifying...it was humbling.
He hasn't many clear memories of life before he was re-made. Before Aizen, the Hyougyoku, and the promise of power enough to tear down anyone who stood in his way. But before that? There was only survival.
The strong ate the weak. He killed anyone who looked down on him.
Nothing else.
Nothing that inspired that sort of drive. That sort of will.

It seemed to him that he had slipped so quietly into the cold darkness. He remembered the shock as a child of a man had pushed a solid twenty two inches of obdurate, black metal between what he imagines is the gap between ribs and spine.
He is hollow, after all.

Nothing there to pierce, really.

No heart to stop.

What if this whole crusade's
A charade
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood
On which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine

He had been the strongest of them. The best.
...But he had not taken well to being collared.

And that was what it was; servitude. Like every other pawn on the table, be they black or white robed, he was a soldier.
It had not taken long to realize this fact, despite the cocky swagger he still retained.

And that collar had chafed.
It hadn't taken long, once he was given command over the old pack, his allies, to take his new power, and pull on that collar.

Funny thing, that.
He had always told Aizen the boy was dangerous.
Why, then, did he go toward that danger?
Not to prove his worth to anyone, least of all Aizen. That much he was sure of.

Maybe....Just maybe, it was something that was unexplainable.
Because the answer was simply impossible.
He was hollow.
No heart to know hope.

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

But, when the end came, and the oblivion that was the loss of self swallowed him, fear disappeared.
He had felt passive.
He was beaten, after all.
And being beaten meant he was weak.
Being weak just meant death.
That was the natural order....

....But he had never been one to take orders well.

So, he clings stubbornly to his consciousness. His sense of self.
There is pain, somewhere in the peripherally, but he doesn't let it consume him. And he is tired of laying still. Tired of feeling only the raw, icy burn of anger.
Tired of existing without hope.

So naive
I keep holding on to what I want to believe
I can see
But I keep holding on and on and on and on

It takes so long. So very, very long to open his eyes. To force himself up. Force himself into being aware. Shameful, really, that's what they'd say. What kind of self-respecting predator just gives up, anyway? Why didn't he get up. Why didn't he fight. Why didn't he prove that he was King. That he had a name, and power, and wasn't about to be forgotten!

He was Grimmjow Jeaguerjaquez. He wasn't broken by the silent desert, he wasn't defeated by the timeless eternity of blood, of death, and howling at the moon purely to break the cursed silence.

One boy had beaten him. Just one. And as strong as the kid was, he was still a naive little brat. Kid was nothing, absolutely nothing compared to Aizen.
...But that will. The will was enough to shame those around him into being better.
And maybe that's what this is; the will, and the resolve rubbing off on someone else, again. Maybe it really was Kurosaki that he has to thank for getting him up, on his feet, thinking, moving.
Just maybe.

Third-Person #2: Here. Again, this is a private thread from the same Capeandcowl setting.
