What happened America? When did you lose your soul?
Tried to apply at 5 different places today. Four straight up told me "We don't accept applications unless they're online."
The other had a sign up front that said Now Hiring Apply Within. So I went in.
"You have to apply online."
When did seeking employment lose the human element. When were we reduced from human beings to facts and statistics?
Why did I bother to immaculately groom myself, get into a determined and confident mindset, and drive around town wasting precious gasoline (I deliver, remember?) if it was just going to end with a big, dehumanizing, FU?
How am I supposed to prove that I am a good hire if I can't even give a proper first impression? When a computer gives me a test and decides in some archaic fashion whether or not to kick it up to a disinterested human being who only views me as a cash cow?
That's part of what's wrong these days.
What happened to an honest day's work for an honest day's pay?
What happened to walking up to a shopkeeper, inquiring about his opening, and being given a straight answer promptly and professionally?
Why do I need 30+ different online profiles to run an effective job hunt?
Some things cannot replace the human element.
