Now it was Azi's turn to act. Spiralling around on one heel like a deadly blade, the tiefling drew out her weapon, the clack of bleached bones sounding clear over the road-turned battlefield. Lunging forward, she lashed out, striking and downing one of the orcs that were just turning around to head the elven woman off. "Get out of the way!" She cried, trying to interpose herself as close as she could in between the orc and the dead donkey.
The small goblin nimbly scurried across the road and struck off another orc, and the last one fled in a blind panic.
Further down the road, there was the sound of roaring. Azi had a bad feeling about it. A very bad feeling.
There was barely any time to move, before it was upon them. An ugly brute thundered down the pathway, roaring and bellowing loud enough to shake the heavens. It lunged and clipped the goblin down one side, a stream of blood following. The goblin blanched, but did not back down. His wild swing, however, did not get through even the tough skin of the large brute-like creature.
Azi saw her chance, and dove in between the large orgre's wild flailing, falling into a position behind the beast and lashing out with the clack of bones. A split second before hitting, a second pair of bony spiked chain - a ghostly image, a mirror - struck too out of nowhere, freezing flesh where it damaged, while Azi's solid chain bit into ogre flesh and drew blood.
But the ogre ignored Azi, and with his next strike the goblin was pummelled into the ground. Shar curse it! The ogre moved threateningly closer towards the elven caster, Azi's attacks ineffectually hitting treated leather and tough skin.
The elf seemed to clutch at the air and fling something at the ogre. It blanched, but didn't react any further. Azi took that moment to strike again, but the ogre showed her his tough hide and the bones of Azi's Spiked Chain could not find purchase in flesh.
With another swipe, the ogre struck the elf, who promptly crumpled into a small heap on the ground. The ogre watched where Azi was going to slice him again as he stepped towards the donkey and picked up the box. Shar curse it! The package!
Azi lashed out again, but her attack was just as ineffectual. She swore loudly as the ogre made a mad dash away into the bushes nearby, her blows ignored. Plunging after the ogre, she gathered the darkness of Shar's Shadows around her, and...
The ogre grunted in surprise as there was suddenly a burst of darkness and Azi - eyes gleaming maliciously - stepped in front of his path of escape. "You're not going anywhere, bastard."
The ogre changed direction, surprisingly nimble in the dense undergrowth that hindered Azi so much. It didn't matter. In the surprise, Azi had significantly lowered the ogre's guard, and now her bony spikes wrapped around his neck, speaking instant death against his jugular. The ogre and box went down with a crash.
