Just gotta say, FABULOUS film!!! Loved it! Overall it was really well done. Had lots of humour amidst the dark undertones of the main plot line. The romance bit was another plot, but I see it more as a sub-plot of the kids growing up and facing adolescence and consequently, attraction to the opposite sex. Hermione was pining over Ron most of the film who got doped up on love potion from Romilda Vane (meant for Harry)...and of course, he was dating Lavender Brown. Harry was somewhat detached minus his attraction to Ginny (which really, is completely random if you put it beside all the other films) and obsession with Draco (heheh... if only they'd had a few broom closet scenes... Draco def coulda used the pick-me-up sex).
Ehem. So yeah Draco was pretty emo throughout, got defensive around Harry and Dumbledore and stuff... And fuck! Snape! He had his roles and stuff...but there was NO Marauders scene (when Harry is taking lessons from Snape on occlumency he looks into his pensieve and sees a memory of Snape getting bullied by his father and Sirius... and well, Remus was there but didn't do anything...) and Snape never even harrassed Harry about the potions book that he used, which was obviously his when he was in school. He said something at the end of the movie about "oh don't use my own spells on me...I am the half blood Prince!" It was like wha-? So random. No lead up; didn't even say WHY he was the half blood Prince, with it being his mother's last name, nope, nothing. Just random. Anyway, besides the few discrepencies it was overall really well done. They pretty much highlighted the main/best parts of the book (minus the marauders but I'm a crazed fangirl so I think I'm sort of entitled to be dismayed by that... I love the marauders and they woulda made such adorable kids...actually, I was imagining what they'd look like when I was reading it and wondering who'd play them in the movie) :( Oh well.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy so I'll stop nitpicking at the little things and read some pick-me-up fanfiction, featuring loads of pick-me-up slash sex. :D Just another day in the life of a pervy slash fan.
p.s. Draco Malfoy was sexy and mysterious-ish in the movie. :D Ginny Weasley was not.
p.p.s. I adore how short Daniel Radcliffe/Harry Potter is. It so works for me... knowing how I see him as... teehee, Draco's boy. :) Ok, ok, I'll stop.
