I meant to say ages ago, it's so fantastic that you fell back into this by looking up trainwreck relationships! XD One night I was going through Seishirou/Subaru tags and feeling sad & nostalgic -- then iTunes starts playing "Don't talk to me about love" so I was rolling on the floor laughing. Naturally I added that song to my S/S playlist! *wipes away tears of laughter*

[QUOTE YOU]"But I'm having an appreciation for Seishirou I haven't had for a while. I can't ship SubaruXSeishirou, but their relationship still does things to my heart that means so much."[END QUOTE]

Ooooh I'd really be interested in hearing what your opinion is on Sei-chan these days. Time and space do give a different perspective. Like back in the day I was all "Killlllll it with fire" about Subaru/Kamui, but nowadays I love those two together. Heck, even the Tsubasa AU vampire twins, yes I ship it! *double thumbs up*

Anyway, just thought I'd add my own humble opinion having re-read Tokyo Babylon after many years break (oh tears were shed even after all this time, let me tell you ;-;).
It feels like S/S isn't a trainwreck relationship at all - in fact they compliment each other so much (light with a little bit of darkness, dark with a little bit of lightness).
TB was essentially describing what it's like to be an individual looking out at a vast vibrant city teaming with people and to not be able to truly connect with and/or reveal your true self (blah that's a clumsy way of explaining it <.<). This applies equally to both Subaru and Seishirou. Also, Subaru was helping so many lost and lonely souls, but the tragedy is that he couldn't see that the loneliest one who was waiting for a whole year to be saved...was Seishirou.
...I'll stop now before this becomes a thesis. /ahaha/ In conclusion, curse you, CLAMP *shakes fist at them* :-D

THANK-YOU FOR THIS COMMENT, DEAREST! I'm going to answer it off the fly because I'm back in the classroom tomorrow and I've done no preparation for it *gulp* After that, I won't have time to reply until March break. But I have to fangirl with you while I have the chance!

OMG, you adorable dweeb, of course you would have a S/S playlist.
That's hilarious! "Don't talk to me about love" sounds like the perfect addition for it.

So my view on Sei-chan:

SO I finished three chapters of the prequel to Mystic Eye, where Seishirou has the baby and with Hokuto-chan (yeah, that was interesting to write) and then gets Subaru involved and OMG, I had too much fun writing it, especially writing Sei-chan, because he is the biggest troll. It's actually fun writing Seishirou and Subaru together where Subaru knows who Seishirou is because Seishirou can be such a big troll to him. Turns out I love writing trolls. All I want to do is write about cheerful people making even more cheerfully snarky comment that goes against what is proper, and Seishirou is PERFECT for that.

I ship S/K because I love the hurt/comfort aspect and because healthy relationships are good (note to self: try to be in a healthy relationship next time), but, there's something about a relationship where one is a troll and the other reacts to the troll that is too much fun to write.

Also, re-reading Mystic Eyes reminded me that Seishirou probably really does care about people - I still stand by that last line of the fic - but he's incapable of being a healthy partner (or parent which I want to explore. Seishirou as a dad fascinates me)

I'm totally projecting here with the trainwreck thing, because I'm dealing my own Seishriou. On one hand I want something healthier and loving, (why I think it is best for Subaru to find something healthier and more fulfilling with Kamui and why I support them so much) but dammit, if getting tangled with unhealthy trolls who can't love properly but they really do care isn't beautiful in its own tragic, horrific way. Clearly, exoricising some demons here XD

I'm fascinated by what you write about S/S: "light with a little bit of darkness, dark with a little bit of lightness." I think they
do compliment each other and on a level they will get each other in a way that no one else will. I do want Subaru to find a relationship where he can actually experience something healthy (or healthier - Lord knows Kamui is messed up too) and loving and where he can be his gentle, more pure self, but what he had/has with Seishirou is utterly irreplacable.

and hey, I would LOVE to see your thesis on S/S! Or anything CLAMP thesis :D Bring your manifesto here!
