Ok, so everyone has basically seen the tv commercials for the upcoming specials, seen the magazine covers and news coverage. It's important to remember the past, but at what expense? I just saw a commercial on Bravo with a man recounting a phone conversation between a mother and daughter, in which the mother had called from the 101st floor of one of the towers and said something to the effect of "I'm not ok, I'm calling to say goodbye". Now how painful will it be for that daughter to hear that conversation being used as an advertisement for a television show. And although it's important to remember the past, is it that important to bring up the painful memories of the people who were directly affected by the tragedy?
I don't have any suggestions on how the day should be remembered, I just don't think it should be treated as a day for the media to go wild.
