A statistical revelation brought to you by Mr. Neil Gaiman:
"Impossible things happen. When they do happen, most people just deal with it. Today, like every day, roughly five thousand people on the face of the planet will experience one-chance-in-a-million things, and not one of them will refuse to believe the evidence of their sense. Most of them will say the equivalent, in their own language, of "Funny old world, isn't it?" and just keep going." (Ananci Boys)
By which he means that with over five billion people alive today about five thousand one-chance-in-a-million events must happen to people every day. Which is pretty amazing.
What is unsaid, however, is that not all one-chance-in-a-million things are all that spectacular. The odds of not recognizing one of these things could be very high, and the odds of it being the one that you were hoping for...
That's all. Have fun. Keep your eyes open. Remember, you can win if you don't play, but you don't get to pick the prize.
