Here what i promise you guys... i'm sorry it's gonna be two-shots since it's too long - -" i have the plot right in my mind but but but.. i can't express it very well *sigh* sorry i really think that i fail this one.. sorry to disappoint you guys... but i put my heart in it.. so please comment.. critic anything will do... my beta was kinda late... but here it is... the last kinda un beta since i dun want to wait anymore to post it.. sooo here it goes... Let me tell you how it feels…
“Hey Donghae. Pass the ball!”
The tall and well built man kicked the ball and it travelled to his best friend, Leeteuk. Then Leeteuk kicked the ball back to Donghae. He ran as fast as he could and avoided all tackles in front of him easily and scored the ball. Donghae raised both of his hands with a big smile curved on his face and he received many pats and hugs from his team mates. The sounds of people cheering and laughing can be heard clearly after the happiness of winning. Everybody loved Lee Donghae; he was outgoing, cheerful, and surprisingly the most innocent teenager in the school. There were a lot of girls that secretly loved him, but when they confessed, Donghae automatically blushed and thanked the girls for their feelings. It seemed like he was not interested in that kind of relationship at all. He was known for his cheerful smile, kindness, and his passion towards soccer. This was Lee Donghae - one of the stars of Myongji High School.
"Kyaaaaa... Oppa you're so cool!”
He moved with style, gently with a strong effect on every move. He pumped his chest as it seemed like his heart was about to jump out to capture the audience's hearts. He smiled with confidence as he performed the last dance move. After the final pose, he heard the claps from the audience who were full of awe for his team's performance. Lee Eunhyuk was the leader of the dance club in Myongjin High School, one of the stars that shone among other students in the school beside Lee Donghae. Compared to Donghae, he flaunted and showed his charm confidently. He would blow kisses and winks towards the girls just to make all the fan girls use their really super high pitch voices. Eunhyuk was really talkative - every time he started talking to his best friend, Heechul, the rowdiness of the class would reach its maximum level. Everyone wanted to be his friend, he was shining in his own way, and nobody could replace the sweet gummy smile of his.
These two stars have been shining among the students in Myongjin High School. They have groups of people who like and support them, but these two stars never met and got to know each other, until one day...
"I'm so excited. Another two more weeks would be my birthday!" Eunhyuk says excitedly while jumping around.
"Yah! Monkey! Your jumping makes me feel dizzy, your birthday is still a long time anyway" Heechul says while holding a mirror with his left hand and fixing his hair with the other.
"Shikuro! Shikuro!" Hankyung says with scrunched eyebrows towards Eunhyuk. He smiles widely when his eyes meet Heechul's.
Ignoring all his friends' comments, Eunhyuk skips happily as he walks. He wonders about how he should celebrate his 18th birthday. Eunhyuk can't help the excitement in his heart and start to dance around again.
"Ahhhhh!" He jumps around too excitedly. His balance on the stairs is not strong enough to stop him from falling down. Eunhyuk loses his balance. In a split second, he hears the voices of Heechul and Hankyung screaming out his name. As he falls, in that short moment, he glances at a teenage boy looking at him with his mouth wide open. Then everything goes black for Eunhyuk.

Eunhyuk can hear different voices shuffling in his ear (which is hurt since he is still trying to get all of his senses back). He squints his eyes and tries to open them slowly. The lights of the bright morning make his eyes more difficult to open but he opens them anyway since he wants to know what is going. Eunhyuk sees both of his parents laughing happily with a stranger.
“Mum? Dad?” Eunhyuk says weakly.
“Oh… You woke up already. Are you ok? Do you feel hurt?” Eunhyuk’s Mum says.
“I can’t move my leg.”
“Well of course since you hurt yourself quite badly,” Eunhyuk’s father says as he points towards Eunhyuk’s foot, which is in a perfect cast.
“What happened?” Eunhyuk asks while he’s trying to fix his fringe that covers his eyes (he has to make sure that he looks good wherever he is).
“Well to sum it all up. One, you got too excited. Two, you fel down from the stairs. Three, you broke your legs. Four, you were unconscious for two days or one a half days to be exact. Five, you are lucky to be alive now,” Heechul says with an upset and worry face. Hankyung just taps on Heechul’s shoulder slowly just to ease him up.
“Eunhyuk, here I want to introduce you to somebody,” Eunhyuk’s father says with a big smile on his face. Eunhyuk realises that there are actually two strangers in the room that he didn’t recognize.
“This is my best friend and his wife, Mr. Lee and Mrs. Lee.”
“Your father has been best friends with Mr. Lee since high school - they were in the same band at school,” Eunhyuk’s mother continues to explain while Eunhyuk’s father drifts off while tapping his best friend’s shoulder a few times. It seems that they had missed each other a lot.
“Nice to meet you Ahjushi and Ahjuhma,” Eunhyuk says politely.
“Nice to meet you too, Eunhyuk. We never thought that you would grow up so fast. It seems just yesterday that we visited you and your mom in hospital when you were just born,” Mrs. Lee says.
“Hahahaha, it seems that fate has brought us together,” Mr. Lee says.
Eunhyuk doesn’t really understand what Mr. Lee is talking about. He stares at Heechul and Hankyung so he can get some idea what all of this is about. Heechul and Hankyung, who are located behind all the adults in the room, raise both of their hands and point to the left. Eunhyuk doesn’t quite understand what they are pointing at. Mrs. Lee pulls back the curtain beside Eunhyuk’s bed. The hospital room looks bigger without the curtain down the middle. Eunhyuk sees another patient in the room. He is a teenage boy playing with a laptop and he has a broken arm and a broken leg. His face seems familiar. Eunhyuk studies the teenage boy’s face intently in the hope that it will trigger his memory.
“Donghae, Eunhyuk has woken up,” Mr. Lee said to his son.
The name ‘Donghae’ seems familiar in Eunhyuk’s ear, but he can’t really remember why that name and that face are so familiar to him. Donghae unplugs the headset on his ears and smiles at Eunhyuk.
“Hi, my name is Donghae. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“Hahahaha it seems that our sons will get along just fine,” Eunhyuk’s father says happily towards his best friend. All of the parents seem to forget about their own sons and head outside the door. They plan to have dinner together in a restaurant and catch up with each other. Eunhyuk stares blankly to the door, seeing their parents going outside, so excited to talk after such a long time. Suddenly the curtain that was separating Eunhyuk’s and Donghae’s bed is pulled out by Heechul. The room becomes small again. Heechul smiles awkwardly towards Donghae, who stares blankly because of this sudden action of Heechul.
“What are you doing?” Eunhyuk asks Heechul.
“Ssshh… Do you know who he is?”
“Donghae? Well, we were introduced to each other just now.”
Heechul hits Eunhyuk’s head. “Hey!” Eunhyuks grunts and touches his sore head.
“How could you forget? He’s Lee Donghae - the famous soccer captain, the one that you’ve been looking to challenge. Remember?”
“Is he the one who’s famous in our school besides me?”
“Yes! Yes!”
“Remember that you want to know what was so good about him and challenge him so that you’d be the most famous one?” Hankyung reminds Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk nods his head but still feels confused on the inside. He did say all of those words, but now he’s actually just curious. He doesn’t know why he has been saying out loud that he wants to challenge him. But, because of his high pride, he feels that he needs to do what he told his friends he’d do. Heechul keeps talking about how good this opportunity to find Donghae’s weakness is. Heechul always gets excited when it’s time to challenge someone or pull a silly prank. Eunhyuk normally can’t be bothered doing all of that stuff, but Heechul makes it sound exciting somehow. It seems better than being bored in hospital all the time, waiting day in, day out for his silly feet to walk again. This is going to be fun…
One month… that’s how long Eunhyuk and Donghae need to stay in the hospital room together. Since their parents are best friends, there’s nothing much that they can do about it. Eunhyuk plans to play pranks on Donghae just for the fun of it - it seems that this is not such a bad idea after all. As always, when Eunhyuk gets excited, he forgets about everything else. He didn’t think about how Donghae got hurts in the first place, obviously due to his excitement. Donghae, who was walking up the stairs on his way to his class, was unlucky enough to be crashed into by Eunhyuk. Donghae broke his hand because his subconscious had actually lead him automatically protect Eunhyuk’s head from the painful edge of the stairs. By the end of the staircase all that Donghae could remember was something heavy on him - Eunhyuk’s body. A broken leg and broken hand were what Donghae had gotten by the end of the day.
Eunhyuk keeps looking for Donghae’s weakness. Since he doesn’t know much about Donghae, he needs to be extra careful if he wants to make the pranks work. Donghae could be better at pranks than him. If Eunhyuk finds Donghae’s weakness, he would not have to be afraid of anything. Anything at all…
As usual Donghae’s Mum will bring some clothes for Donghae to change. Parents will always come two times a week to visit their sons.
“Did you bring it, Mum?” Donghae asks his Mum, as quietly as he can, whilst still letting his Mum hear him.
“Yes sweetie, I brought it, relax relax. You’re so cute that you want to...”
“Mum!” Donghae shouts suddenly.
Eunhyuk feels like something fishy is going on. Donghae is being so secretive, he can’t help but wonder what it is about. This is probably the biggest secret that Lee Donghae has. It has to be!
The rest of the day is pretty ordinary. They watch the world cup together and they never make conversation unless it’s necessary, but they do talk a lot in front of their parents. Their instinct says that they need to get along very well in front of their parents, even though they are actually still awkward with each other. It’s hard to find a topic that will last for at least two minutes. Since their characters and interests are quite different, one excited guy and one calm guy, they don’t mix easily.
Later on at night, it’s time for them to be tucked into bed. Eunhyuk falls asleep in an instant, drifting off to a happy dream land where everyone adores him, only him. Unfortunately, the urge to go to the toilet wakes him up. He takes his crutches and slowly moves himself in the direction of toilet. Since the toilet is at the far end of the room, near Donghae’s bed, Eunhyuk has to travel past him. Eunhyuk realizes that there’s something different in this room. Before Eunhyuk went to bed, he distinctly remembered that the curtain between their beds was neatly bundled with a ribbon, but now here it is, cutting the room in two again. As Eunhyuk gets close to the toilet’s door and passes the curtain, he looks at his left side and found the most hilarious thing that he ever saw. It’s a view that makes Eunhyuk want to burst into laughter but he holds it in, since he doesn’t want Donghae to wake up and destroy the view. The sight? Donghae is sleeping soundly while cuddling a soft toy like a two year old child. He snuggles tightly against the fish toy while Eunhyuk covers his own mouth with his hand to stop him from bursting into a gigantic fit of laughter. The greatest opportunity for Eunhyuk has come - nothing can stop him from pranking Donghae anymore. Eunhyuk goes back to his bed and takes out his mobile. He takes several photos of Donghae’s cute action while sleeping. Eunhyuk can’t still believe that Donghae, the captain of the soccer team, known to be the most handsome, popular athletic guy would have such a weird way of sleeping. No, not weird, but a childish one. A wide smile curves on Eunhyuk’s face; is it an evil smile or a brat’s smile? Who knows...
“Morning, Donghae!” Eunhyuk chirps happily. This is really weird for Donghae - this has never happened before. Donghae could only smile and say good morning too towards Eunhyuk.
“You know what? I found something really interesting last night,” Eunhyuk says sneakily.
Donghae can feel that something really bad is about to happen to him. He shivers at the way Eunhyuk says it. There’s something wrong with that tone, definitely something wrong with it.
“Hmm… just keep swimming, just keep swimming na na na na na na,” Eunhyuk sings happily as Donghae’s face slowly turns pale. The tune is something really familiar for Donghae and he knows exactly what Eunhyuk is trying to point at. Donghae’s soft toy that he was holding tight last night is a Nemo fish. Donghae looks at Eunhyuk with cold sweat on his body. Eunhyuk smiles widely and takes his phone from the small table beside his bed.
“You want to see something interesting Donghae-shi?”
“Yea… Yeah sure,” Donghae says, he tries to calm himself down as much as he can, grabs his crutches and limps towards Eunhyuk’s bed. Eunhyuk shows Donghae the picture that he took last night. The picture is not actually bad, it’s rather really cute, but everyone would laugh at it since the most athletic guy around the school did something aegyo like that. Donghae’s eyes widen and his cheeks turn red slowly.
“Yah! Would you mind your own business?” Donghae - who never shouts at anyone and always take severything calmly - burst into embarrassment and anger.
Eunhyuk could only laugh his ass off at Donghae’s reaction. He ignores all the threats that Donghae throws at him and feels the happiness of winning in his heart. For Eunhyuk, this is going to be fun, but for Donghae, this means war.

Donghae is a smart student. Instead using physical force, he always uses his brain first. He makes all the plans and executes them very well. He’s the captain of the soccer team after all and strategy is his thing. He knows that Eunhyuk favourite food would be the strawberry yogurt that the hospital always sells for lunch time. Everyone knows that the hospital food is tasteless and doesn’t satisfy your appetite at all, so Eunhyuk always asks his parents or friends to buy the yoghurt for him. Eunhyuk always has it every day for his dessert. One day Donghae’s friends, Leeteuk, Kangin, Kyuhyun and Sungmin visit Donghae, who is still unable to move much since his right foot is still in its cast, along with his left hand. They miss Donghae very much and want him to come back to school immediately. There’s a competition coming up in two months and their captain is still lying on the bed in the process of recovery. On this particular of day, nobody is visiting Eunhyuk at all. His parents went out with Donghae’s parents and Heechul and Hankyung are having a lovey-dovey couple day. Eunhyuk can only sigh all day because he can’t eat his favourite strawberry yoghurt. When all of Donghae’s friends are about to go home, Donghae asks Sungmin a favour and whispers it through in his ear.
“Ahem!” Kyuhyun clears his throat with his eyes looking at Donghae fiercely.
“Hahahahah… Don’t worry, Hyung will not do anything to your cute Sungmin.”
“You better be sure,” when it comes to Sungmin, Kyuhyun gets very possessive and scary and, no matter who he’s dealing with, he will become the Evilkyu. Sungmin can only giggle happily, seeing his lover jealous over that small matter.
“Okay Hyung, I’ll be right back!” Sungmin says to Donghae while dragging Kyuhun out of the room by the hands.
Fifteen minutes pass…
“Here you go Hyung, your strawberry yogurt.”
“Ow, thanks Minnie,” Donghae says happily while Eunhyuk can only widen his eyes, not believing what Donghae has done. Eunhyuk’s obsession towards strawberry things could be really scary sometimes. He would do anything to get his hands on strawberry. Sungmin says goodbye to his Hyung and smiles toward Eunhyuk, to pay a bit of respect to his sunbae. Donghae opens the strawberry yoghurt slowly and eats it happily. Eunhyuk can only go red from his anger. Inside of his heart, Donghae is laughing quite happily. Finally he can get his revenge.
“Yah! Did you do this on purpose?” Eunhyuk asks in an angry tone towards Donghae (who has yogurt on the corner of his lips). Donghae licks the yogurt off his face and answers.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“You know that I like strawberry yoghurt very much. That’s why you’re eating it in front of me - to get back at me. Right?”
No, I actually just had a craving for it. I didn’t really pay enough attention to know that you like it,” Donghae acting as innocent as possible. Donghae could pull off being an actor if he wanted to. He’s very good at pretending. Eunhyuk thinks this sounds reasonable. To him, it seems like Donghae had never paid attention to anything he does. In actuality, Donghae had always been acutely aware of his surroundings. Especially since the photo incident. Donghae keeps his eyes on Eunhyuk and plans something to get back at him. Eunhyuk is speechless. He doesn’t have evidence that Donghae did any of this stuff intentionally. He can only turn his back to Donghae and try to swallow all his anger inside his heart. He grits his teeth together and clenches his fists while Donghae smiles at his victory.
Later on, Donghae’s phone vibrates. He grabs it and looks at the new text messages. It was from Leeteuk, his best friend. Leeteuk asks Donghae whether something has happened in this past few days. Donghae wonders why he asks him that question suddenly. Leeteuk explains that Sungmin has told him about what happened earlier, and that he is just curious about why Donghae would pull this kind of prank, since it seemed really out of his character. Donghae explains to his best friend about everything and the reply that he gets is this:
“Ok, but still this isn’t like you. You wouldn’t care if someone does pranks on you, you usually ignore it. Since you don’t really care about your image at school why would you care so much about the photo? Don’t tell me you turn into another person since you fall down from stairs.”
What Leeteuk tells Donghae is the truth. Donghae never showed any interest in anything except soccer and music. He really kept himself low, never showing off, never really caring about what other people thought about him. All his popularity that he gained is because of his own natural self, his passion towards soccer, his smile and his kindness. Never once did he try to look good and be someone he was not.
Donghae wonders why he would do all of this, why he would suddenly change. He’s not the old Lee Donghae any more - is this a bad thing?
All of this keeps messing with his mind. He turns his body to the right side and glimpses Eunhyuk sleeping in peace. He can see his face now, since Eunhyuk’s back is no longer turned to him. Donghae stares blankly at Eunhyuk’s face. He day dreams of Eunhyuk’s happy expression while eating strawberry yoghurt. The yogurt was all over around his mouth, his one eye lid eyes curve into crescent moon shapes and his gummy smile is always right there on his face. Donghae shakes his head and pulls himself back to reality, but his eyes are still fixed on Eunhyuk’s sleeping face. He studies his face. It looks so calm. He realises that Eunhyuk has a very white, milky skin, unlike his own skin, which is quite tanned from playing on the soccer field too much. His eyes are getting heavy and he eventually falls into his own slumber.
The pranks haven’t stopped for Eunhyuk. He still needs to get back at Donghae somehow. He knows that Donghae planned everything that happened yesterday. As he’s lived in the same room as Donghae for about two weeks by now, he knows that Donghae is a really tidy person. Donghae, who loves the outdoors a whole lot, occasionally asks the nurse to push his wheelchair around the park. This would be the perfect opportunity for Eunhyuk to take his revenge. When the opportunity arrives, Eunhyuk gets up straight away and, with the help of his crutches, heads towards Donghae’s bed. He opens Donghae’s bag, and takes out everything inside of it. The clothes, books, everything. He puts it all in random places - under the bed, on the bed, on the table and even in the toilet. Eunhyuk thinks that this will do the trick just fine. When Donghae returns to the room to get some rest, he sees his bag is empty and his belongings are all over the place. He looks in Eunhyuk’s direction and finds that he is still sleeping. Well, sleeping or pretending to be asleep. Donghae simply takes a very deep breath, tries to calm himself down and remembers what Leeteuk said last night. He just needs to be himself. Since his hand has recovered by now, it’s easier for him to pick everything up and put it back in his bag. Eunhyuk, who is pretending to be asleep, starts feeling guilty after hearing Donghae’s grunts here and there. Eunhyuk feels conflicted - was he out of line or not? He feels terrible. How could he could something so childish? On the other hand, it felt so right to get back at Donghae. He eventually decides to act innocent, as if there was nothing wrong. Each of the boys has lunch, dinner and then falls asleep.
Donghae realized that tomorrow will be Eunhyuk’s eighteenth birthday, so when he went out earlier this morning, he asked the nurse to help him buy a strawberry shortcake. He thinks that, with this cake, he can make a peace pact with Eunhyuk. Finding his stuff spread everywhere had changed everything. Something within Donghae just wants to forget about peace and find another path to revenge, but he does feel sorry for Eunhyuk, who has to spend his eighteenth birthday in a hospital room. Donghae hates it so much that since he meet Eunhyuk, he’s suddenly always felt so unsure about himself. He can’t make any clear decisions - everything is so spontaneous and out of character. Donghae has come to his last resort for solving this problem - he decides to give the Eunhyuk the cake but take revenge on him at the same time. Donghae puts the cake on the small table beside Eunhyuk’s bed and sneaks slowly to the toilet to get some water in a cup. He pours the water onto, ahem, a crucial lower part of Eunhyuk, hoping desperately that the coldness on that area won’t wake him up. Donghae laughs quietly and goes back to his warm bed. He’s looking forward to Eunhyuk’s expression tomorrow morning.
“What is this!?” Eunhyuk screams early in the morning.
Donghae, who was already looking forward Eunhyuk’s reaction, wakes up and pretends to try to see what’s going on. Instead of showing it to Donghae, Eunhyuk covers the part which is wet with his blanket. He just smiles toward Donghae and explains that there’s nothing wrong at all. Donghae can see that Eunhyuk is really embarrassed about this, his soft and white cheek covering themselves with a bright red blush. Eunhyuk looks down so that Donghae can’t catch his eye. He’s just so embarrassed with everything that is going on right now. He doesn’t know why it’s wet down there, though he can think of some possibilities. Staring blankly at the white sheet, he realises that it could have been one of Donghae’s pranks. Luckily for Eunhyuk, the nurse has not arrived, or else it would have been worse. Since no real damage has been done, Eunhyuk thinks he needs to let go this time, since what he did yesterday was much worse than this. Eunhyuk slowly walks to the toilet and changes his clothes. Donghae, who wants to laugh after seeing Eunhyuk’s funny reaction, decides that he has had his fun already. Today is Eunhyuk’s day after all. He wants Eunhyuk to be happy. Wait. He wants Eunhyuk to be happy? Is that right? Well, he does want to make a peace pact with Eunhyuk after all, what’s wrong with wishing him to be happy? Especially today. Donghae just reads the newspaper while lying on his bed, he doesn’t say happy birthday at all, and just treats today as any other day. Since today is Tuesday, Eunhyuk’s parents would still be working, so the only thing that he’s looking forward to would be his friends’ visit.
“Wah, strawberry shortcake!” Eunhyuk says excitedly as he puts the cake right in front of him. His face brightens up instantly and he claps his hands together like a four year old child meeting his new toys on Christmas Day. He takes a spoonful of the cake and eats it by himself - he’s drowning in his own little world, a sugar rush taking over his body. Donghae looks at Eunhyuk’s happy face intently. He wonders how that skinny small body could fit that one whole cake inside of it. How could a boy love strawberry this much? What if there’s actually bad people who put poison in that cake? Donghae chuckles to himself. He doesn’t know whether he finds it cute or dumb. As Eunhyuk finishes the last spoonful of the cake, the sound of door opening can be heard.
“CONGRATULATION! Saengilchulka hamida eunhyukkie!” Heechul and Hankyung bring quite a lot of people to celebrate Eunhyuk’s birthday. There’s balloons, party poppers and a big strawberry cake for everyone. As Eunhyuk sees the big birthday cake his face brightens up once again and his gummy smile is on the loose. Nobody could stop him from smiling from happiness. He sees how people care about him and is thankful for what they have done for him. Eunhyuk concludes that the small strawberry short cake would be from his parents who could have dropped it off early in the morning. Eunhyuk becomes the center of attention for everyone. They surround his bed and just talk to him and ask how he is doing. They put some music on. The volume is not too loud so it would not be a problem at all for the other neighbours in hospital’s rooms. They had a small dance session and Eunhyuk just claps happily to see live dancing after such a long time. Dance is his passion, after all - Eunhyuk tries to dance as much as he can on his bed. He did some hand movements and chest popping. The laughter surrounds Eunhyuk and Donghae can see that Eunhyuk is having a fun day.
The sun has set and his friends decided to leave the hospital. Donghae receives a text message that says that Eunhyuk parents can’t come today to hospital due business purposes and he’s being asked to accompany him for the rest of the day. As for Eunhyuk, he receives apologetic text messages from his parents, who promise that they would make it up to him one day and will bring his favourite strawberry cheese cake. Eunhyuk understands that his parent try their hardest to make money for him to go to college. He can’t really blame them for not coming today, but he realizes that small strawberry cake is not from his friends nor his parents. It never crosses his mind that Donghae could be the one who gave that small cake to him - his mind automatically goes to the possibility that one of his admirers did this. It’s an awkward silence. Donghae doesn’t know exactly how to spend time with Eunhyuk, how to make him feel better, since all they do is tease each other and sarcastically talk to each other when their parents are not around. When their parents are around, they would each put on a false pretense, smile with each other and even pat each other shoulder (which was malicious slaps in disguise). For Eunhyuk it’s really an awkward moment too, since the room was full of voices just a moment ago and now it’s so quite that it feels like he’s being pressured to say something. He has no mood for teasing Donghae, since he’s a bit down too.
The sound of crutches being move break the silence, Donghae sees Eunhyuk that try to get out from the bed and making his way to the toilet. The ringtone of “Boom Boom” can be heard by Donghae after Eunhyuk leave the room for the toilet, it’s from Eunhyuk’s iphone. Donghae thinks that this will be a great opportunity to have a conversation with Eunhyuk and then we’ll see how it goes. Donghae make his way and grabs the phone, when he sees that “Omma” written on the top of the screen. His thumb about to touch the screen to answer the phone but it’s too late. The call becomes a missed call and another screen comes up. Donghae just couldn’t believe what he is seeing right now. He can’t describe what’s happening right now, he blinks his eyes for a few time, his cheek becomes really warm, and his mouth shape “O” for a few minutes. Donghae put down the phone carefully, he walks back with his crutches back to his warm bed, without blinking and empty gaze he tucks in himself with the blanket and burst into laughter suddenly.
“HAHAHAHAHA…” tears comes out from the corner of his eyes because of the laughter that he can’t control anymore. Eunhyuk makes a step inside the room and looking at Donghae strangely.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Donghae hold his stomach while continue his laughing, his voice fill the entire room and Eunhyuk just staring at him with “This guy must be crazy” expression on his face. After several minutes of laughing, Donghae try to hold and control his laughter, every time he tries to look at Eunhyuk’s face it gets harder and harder to control his own emotion. So he decides to shoot it all out to Eunhyuk in one sentence.
“You have quite a collection in there, Mr. Yadong” as Donghae points toward Eunhyuk’s iphone. Suddenly Eunhyuk has cold feet but hot in the same time, he can’t believe that Donghae found out his deepest secret, even his best friends doesn’t know about this. With the loudest voice that he can make he shouts at Donghae, telling Donghae to mind his own business. Donghae just sits there looking at Eunhyuk smiling in a dorky way.
“As if you never watch it.”
“Actually, I don’t”
“You must be gay.”
“No I’m not. I just don’t have time for that and I don’t need it”
“Seriously? You got to be kidding me”
“Well unlike you there are actually some people who doesn’t have dirty mind”
“Shut up, you’re so nosy do you know that?”
“Me? I was just about to pick up your phone so your mom wouldn’t worry about you, it just happen that you are in the middle of something”
Eunhyuk clears his throat and try to cover his embarrassment by talking confidently.
“Well it’s normal for guy”
“It’s not normal if you have it in your phone and you bring it everywhere, you got like twenty of them”
Eunhyuk who lose in that conversation suddenly break out from his strong shell and show Donghae another side of him that he never shows before. Eunhyuk pouts as a small drop of tears peeking in the corner of his eyes, and he says
“I’m not a pervert” he goes to his own bed and pulls the blanket on top of his head so it covers his whole body. Donghae smiles widely, he feels his cheek has gone tired because all of this.
“I never said that you are pervert” he says to Eunhyuk with a calm voice.
“Huhh”
Another secret that they share that nobody ever find yet. The fact that what they have been doing to each other is rather unfriendly but they have known each other through secret that no one know. How Donghae treasure his soft toy that he has since he was a kid, how Eunhyuk have a collection of porn hiding in his iphone, and other little detail that they can found about each other through their daily activity in that hospital room. It’s amazing how much you can know about someone because of this unfortunate accident. It’s amazing how you unaware something deep has stolen a place in your heart.

The last day in Hospital
Everybody are so excited, today is their last night together in the same room. All the clothes have been pack and they are ready to go for tomorrow morning. No more cast and no more tasteless hospital food. They are looking forward to meet all their friends and resume their ordinary activity. Donghae is definitely looking forward to his soccer member and training together for the competition. For Eunhyuk, he has cerographs a new dance for the festival that coming up soon, he really wants to dance all together again with his group. The full moon shines brightly, lights are off and they are ready to sleep. They drift off to sleep and start regaining all energy that they need for their first day come back to school. Rain is pouring down really hard at that night, it’s windy and lightning comes to visit once a while. Eunhyuk start to mumbles in his sleep, he jerks his body constantly on his bed, his breathing starts become difficult and he starts screaming suddenly while he still closing his eyes.
“Eunhyuk! Eunhyuk!” Donghae shouts while he tries to wake up Eunhyuk from his nightmare by shaking Eunhyuk’s shoulder back and forth. Eunhyuk open his eyes but the fear on his face hasn’t disappear. He hugs Donghae straight away and bury his head on Donghae’s chest while his arm circling Donghae’s waist. Donghae hugs Eunhyuk back and tries to calm him down.
“Shussh.. Shussh.. Everything is alright” Donghae says slowly, Eunhyuk breathes normally again his tear has been washed off because of Donghae’s t-shirt. Eunhyuk who’s still on Donghae’s chest could hear a rapid fast heartbeat. He’s back to his senses that he’s hugging Donghae right now, he let go and immediately look away from Donghae.
“I’m sorry”
“That’s okay”
Nothing can come out from their mouth. Beside sounds of heavy rain against the window they can hear the sound of their own heartbeat, beating so fast and loud that they think the others could hear it. They just want to stay there right where they are, the time seems to stop for both of them until their eyes meet each other. What is this?

“Hey Donghae. Pass the ball!”
The tall and well built man kicked the ball and it travelled to his best friend, Leeteuk. Then Leeteuk kicked the ball back to Donghae. He ran as fast as he could and avoided all tackles in front of him easily and scored the ball. Donghae raised both of his hands with a big smile curved on his face and he received many pats and hugs from his team mates. The sounds of people cheering and laughing can be heard clearly after the happiness of winning. Everybody loved Lee Donghae; he was outgoing, cheerful, and surprisingly the most innocent teenager in the school. There were a lot of girls that secretly loved him, but when they confessed, Donghae automatically blushed and thanked the girls for their feelings. It seemed like he was not interested in that kind of relationship at all. He was known for his cheerful smile, kindness, and his passion towards soccer. This was Lee Donghae - one of the stars of Myongji High School.
"Kyaaaaa... Oppa you're so cool!”
He moved with style, gently with a strong effect on every move. He pumped his chest as it seemed like his heart was about to jump out to capture the audience's hearts. He smiled with confidence as he performed the last dance move. After the final pose, he heard the claps from the audience who were full of awe for his team's performance. Lee Eunhyuk was the leader of the dance club in Myongjin High School, one of the stars that shone among other students in the school beside Lee Donghae. Compared to Donghae, he flaunted and showed his charm confidently. He would blow kisses and winks towards the girls just to make all the fan girls use their really super high pitch voices. Eunhyuk was really talkative - every time he started talking to his best friend, Heechul, the rowdiness of the class would reach its maximum level. Everyone wanted to be his friend, he was shining in his own way, and nobody could replace the sweet gummy smile of his.
These two stars have been shining among the students in Myongjin High School. They have groups of people who like and support them, but these two stars never met and got to know each other, until one day...
"I'm so excited. Another two more weeks would be my birthday!" Eunhyuk says excitedly while jumping around.
"Yah! Monkey! Your jumping makes me feel dizzy, your birthday is still a long time anyway" Heechul says while holding a mirror with his left hand and fixing his hair with the other.
"Shikuro! Shikuro!" Hankyung says with scrunched eyebrows towards Eunhyuk. He smiles widely when his eyes meet Heechul's.
Ignoring all his friends' comments, Eunhyuk skips happily as he walks. He wonders about how he should celebrate his 18th birthday. Eunhyuk can't help the excitement in his heart and start to dance around again.
"Ahhhhh!" He jumps around too excitedly. His balance on the stairs is not strong enough to stop him from falling down. Eunhyuk loses his balance. In a split second, he hears the voices of Heechul and Hankyung screaming out his name. As he falls, in that short moment, he glances at a teenage boy looking at him with his mouth wide open. Then everything goes black for Eunhyuk.

Eunhyuk can hear different voices shuffling in his ear (which is hurt since he is still trying to get all of his senses back). He squints his eyes and tries to open them slowly. The lights of the bright morning make his eyes more difficult to open but he opens them anyway since he wants to know what is going. Eunhyuk sees both of his parents laughing happily with a stranger.
“Mum? Dad?” Eunhyuk says weakly.
“Oh… You woke up already. Are you ok? Do you feel hurt?” Eunhyuk’s Mum says.
“I can’t move my leg.”
“Well of course since you hurt yourself quite badly,” Eunhyuk’s father says as he points towards Eunhyuk’s foot, which is in a perfect cast.
“What happened?” Eunhyuk asks while he’s trying to fix his fringe that covers his eyes (he has to make sure that he looks good wherever he is).
“Well to sum it all up. One, you got too excited. Two, you fel down from the stairs. Three, you broke your legs. Four, you were unconscious for two days or one a half days to be exact. Five, you are lucky to be alive now,” Heechul says with an upset and worry face. Hankyung just taps on Heechul’s shoulder slowly just to ease him up.
“Eunhyuk, here I want to introduce you to somebody,” Eunhyuk’s father says with a big smile on his face. Eunhyuk realises that there are actually two strangers in the room that he didn’t recognize.
“This is my best friend and his wife, Mr. Lee and Mrs. Lee.”
“Your father has been best friends with Mr. Lee since high school - they were in the same band at school,” Eunhyuk’s mother continues to explain while Eunhyuk’s father drifts off while tapping his best friend’s shoulder a few times. It seems that they had missed each other a lot.
“Nice to meet you Ahjushi and Ahjuhma,” Eunhyuk says politely.
“Nice to meet you too, Eunhyuk. We never thought that you would grow up so fast. It seems just yesterday that we visited you and your mom in hospital when you were just born,” Mrs. Lee says.
“Hahahaha, it seems that fate has brought us together,” Mr. Lee says.
Eunhyuk doesn’t really understand what Mr. Lee is talking about. He stares at Heechul and Hankyung so he can get some idea what all of this is about. Heechul and Hankyung, who are located behind all the adults in the room, raise both of their hands and point to the left. Eunhyuk doesn’t quite understand what they are pointing at. Mrs. Lee pulls back the curtain beside Eunhyuk’s bed. The hospital room looks bigger without the curtain down the middle. Eunhyuk sees another patient in the room. He is a teenage boy playing with a laptop and he has a broken arm and a broken leg. His face seems familiar. Eunhyuk studies the teenage boy’s face intently in the hope that it will trigger his memory.
“Donghae, Eunhyuk has woken up,” Mr. Lee said to his son.
The name ‘Donghae’ seems familiar in Eunhyuk’s ear, but he can’t really remember why that name and that face are so familiar to him. Donghae unplugs the headset on his ears and smiles at Eunhyuk.
“Hi, my name is Donghae. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“Hahahaha it seems that our sons will get along just fine,” Eunhyuk’s father says happily towards his best friend. All of the parents seem to forget about their own sons and head outside the door. They plan to have dinner together in a restaurant and catch up with each other. Eunhyuk stares blankly to the door, seeing their parents going outside, so excited to talk after such a long time. Suddenly the curtain that was separating Eunhyuk’s and Donghae’s bed is pulled out by Heechul. The room becomes small again. Heechul smiles awkwardly towards Donghae, who stares blankly because of this sudden action of Heechul.
“What are you doing?” Eunhyuk asks Heechul.
“Ssshh… Do you know who he is?”
“Donghae? Well, we were introduced to each other just now.”
Heechul hits Eunhyuk’s head. “Hey!” Eunhyuks grunts and touches his sore head.
“How could you forget? He’s Lee Donghae - the famous soccer captain, the one that you’ve been looking to challenge. Remember?”
“Is he the one who’s famous in our school besides me?”
“Yes! Yes!”
“Remember that you want to know what was so good about him and challenge him so that you’d be the most famous one?” Hankyung reminds Eunhyuk. Eunhyuk nods his head but still feels confused on the inside. He did say all of those words, but now he’s actually just curious. He doesn’t know why he has been saying out loud that he wants to challenge him. But, because of his high pride, he feels that he needs to do what he told his friends he’d do. Heechul keeps talking about how good this opportunity to find Donghae’s weakness is. Heechul always gets excited when it’s time to challenge someone or pull a silly prank. Eunhyuk normally can’t be bothered doing all of that stuff, but Heechul makes it sound exciting somehow. It seems better than being bored in hospital all the time, waiting day in, day out for his silly feet to walk again. This is going to be fun…
One month… that’s how long Eunhyuk and Donghae need to stay in the hospital room together. Since their parents are best friends, there’s nothing much that they can do about it. Eunhyuk plans to play pranks on Donghae just for the fun of it - it seems that this is not such a bad idea after all. As always, when Eunhyuk gets excited, he forgets about everything else. He didn’t think about how Donghae got hurts in the first place, obviously due to his excitement. Donghae, who was walking up the stairs on his way to his class, was unlucky enough to be crashed into by Eunhyuk. Donghae broke his hand because his subconscious had actually lead him automatically protect Eunhyuk’s head from the painful edge of the stairs. By the end of the staircase all that Donghae could remember was something heavy on him - Eunhyuk’s body. A broken leg and broken hand were what Donghae had gotten by the end of the day.
Eunhyuk keeps looking for Donghae’s weakness. Since he doesn’t know much about Donghae, he needs to be extra careful if he wants to make the pranks work. Donghae could be better at pranks than him. If Eunhyuk finds Donghae’s weakness, he would not have to be afraid of anything. Anything at all…
As usual Donghae’s Mum will bring some clothes for Donghae to change. Parents will always come two times a week to visit their sons.
“Did you bring it, Mum?” Donghae asks his Mum, as quietly as he can, whilst still letting his Mum hear him.
“Yes sweetie, I brought it, relax relax. You’re so cute that you want to...”
“Mum!” Donghae shouts suddenly.
Eunhyuk feels like something fishy is going on. Donghae is being so secretive, he can’t help but wonder what it is about. This is probably the biggest secret that Lee Donghae has. It has to be!
The rest of the day is pretty ordinary. They watch the world cup together and they never make conversation unless it’s necessary, but they do talk a lot in front of their parents. Their instinct says that they need to get along very well in front of their parents, even though they are actually still awkward with each other. It’s hard to find a topic that will last for at least two minutes. Since their characters and interests are quite different, one excited guy and one calm guy, they don’t mix easily.
Later on at night, it’s time for them to be tucked into bed. Eunhyuk falls asleep in an instant, drifting off to a happy dream land where everyone adores him, only him. Unfortunately, the urge to go to the toilet wakes him up. He takes his crutches and slowly moves himself in the direction of toilet. Since the toilet is at the far end of the room, near Donghae’s bed, Eunhyuk has to travel past him. Eunhyuk realizes that there’s something different in this room. Before Eunhyuk went to bed, he distinctly remembered that the curtain between their beds was neatly bundled with a ribbon, but now here it is, cutting the room in two again. As Eunhyuk gets close to the toilet’s door and passes the curtain, he looks at his left side and found the most hilarious thing that he ever saw. It’s a view that makes Eunhyuk want to burst into laughter but he holds it in, since he doesn’t want Donghae to wake up and destroy the view. The sight? Donghae is sleeping soundly while cuddling a soft toy like a two year old child. He snuggles tightly against the fish toy while Eunhyuk covers his own mouth with his hand to stop him from bursting into a gigantic fit of laughter. The greatest opportunity for Eunhyuk has come - nothing can stop him from pranking Donghae anymore. Eunhyuk goes back to his bed and takes out his mobile. He takes several photos of Donghae’s cute action while sleeping. Eunhyuk can’t still believe that Donghae, the captain of the soccer team, known to be the most handsome, popular athletic guy would have such a weird way of sleeping. No, not weird, but a childish one. A wide smile curves on Eunhyuk’s face; is it an evil smile or a brat’s smile? Who knows...
“Morning, Donghae!” Eunhyuk chirps happily. This is really weird for Donghae - this has never happened before. Donghae could only smile and say good morning too towards Eunhyuk.
“You know what? I found something really interesting last night,” Eunhyuk says sneakily.
Donghae can feel that something really bad is about to happen to him. He shivers at the way Eunhyuk says it. There’s something wrong with that tone, definitely something wrong with it.
“Hmm… just keep swimming, just keep swimming na na na na na na,” Eunhyuk sings happily as Donghae’s face slowly turns pale. The tune is something really familiar for Donghae and he knows exactly what Eunhyuk is trying to point at. Donghae’s soft toy that he was holding tight last night is a Nemo fish. Donghae looks at Eunhyuk with cold sweat on his body. Eunhyuk smiles widely and takes his phone from the small table beside his bed.
“You want to see something interesting Donghae-shi?”
“Yea… Yeah sure,” Donghae says, he tries to calm himself down as much as he can, grabs his crutches and limps towards Eunhyuk’s bed. Eunhyuk shows Donghae the picture that he took last night. The picture is not actually bad, it’s rather really cute, but everyone would laugh at it since the most athletic guy around the school did something aegyo like that. Donghae’s eyes widen and his cheeks turn red slowly.
“Yah! Would you mind your own business?” Donghae - who never shouts at anyone and always take severything calmly - burst into embarrassment and anger.
Eunhyuk could only laugh his ass off at Donghae’s reaction. He ignores all the threats that Donghae throws at him and feels the happiness of winning in his heart. For Eunhyuk, this is going to be fun, but for Donghae, this means war.

Donghae is a smart student. Instead using physical force, he always uses his brain first. He makes all the plans and executes them very well. He’s the captain of the soccer team after all and strategy is his thing. He knows that Eunhyuk favourite food would be the strawberry yogurt that the hospital always sells for lunch time. Everyone knows that the hospital food is tasteless and doesn’t satisfy your appetite at all, so Eunhyuk always asks his parents or friends to buy the yoghurt for him. Eunhyuk always has it every day for his dessert. One day Donghae’s friends, Leeteuk, Kangin, Kyuhyun and Sungmin visit Donghae, who is still unable to move much since his right foot is still in its cast, along with his left hand. They miss Donghae very much and want him to come back to school immediately. There’s a competition coming up in two months and their captain is still lying on the bed in the process of recovery. On this particular of day, nobody is visiting Eunhyuk at all. His parents went out with Donghae’s parents and Heechul and Hankyung are having a lovey-dovey couple day. Eunhyuk can only sigh all day because he can’t eat his favourite strawberry yoghurt. When all of Donghae’s friends are about to go home, Donghae asks Sungmin a favour and whispers it through in his ear.
“Ahem!” Kyuhyun clears his throat with his eyes looking at Donghae fiercely.
“Hahahahah… Don’t worry, Hyung will not do anything to your cute Sungmin.”
“You better be sure,” when it comes to Sungmin, Kyuhyun gets very possessive and scary and, no matter who he’s dealing with, he will become the Evilkyu. Sungmin can only giggle happily, seeing his lover jealous over that small matter.
“Okay Hyung, I’ll be right back!” Sungmin says to Donghae while dragging Kyuhun out of the room by the hands.
Fifteen minutes pass…
“Here you go Hyung, your strawberry yogurt.”
“Ow, thanks Minnie,” Donghae says happily while Eunhyuk can only widen his eyes, not believing what Donghae has done. Eunhyuk’s obsession towards strawberry things could be really scary sometimes. He would do anything to get his hands on strawberry. Sungmin says goodbye to his Hyung and smiles toward Eunhyuk, to pay a bit of respect to his sunbae. Donghae opens the strawberry yoghurt slowly and eats it happily. Eunhyuk can only go red from his anger. Inside of his heart, Donghae is laughing quite happily. Finally he can get his revenge.
“Yah! Did you do this on purpose?” Eunhyuk asks in an angry tone towards Donghae (who has yogurt on the corner of his lips). Donghae licks the yogurt off his face and answers.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“You know that I like strawberry yoghurt very much. That’s why you’re eating it in front of me - to get back at me. Right?”
No, I actually just had a craving for it. I didn’t really pay enough attention to know that you like it,” Donghae acting as innocent as possible. Donghae could pull off being an actor if he wanted to. He’s very good at pretending. Eunhyuk thinks this sounds reasonable. To him, it seems like Donghae had never paid attention to anything he does. In actuality, Donghae had always been acutely aware of his surroundings. Especially since the photo incident. Donghae keeps his eyes on Eunhyuk and plans something to get back at him. Eunhyuk is speechless. He doesn’t have evidence that Donghae did any of this stuff intentionally. He can only turn his back to Donghae and try to swallow all his anger inside his heart. He grits his teeth together and clenches his fists while Donghae smiles at his victory.
Later on, Donghae’s phone vibrates. He grabs it and looks at the new text messages. It was from Leeteuk, his best friend. Leeteuk asks Donghae whether something has happened in this past few days. Donghae wonders why he asks him that question suddenly. Leeteuk explains that Sungmin has told him about what happened earlier, and that he is just curious about why Donghae would pull this kind of prank, since it seemed really out of his character. Donghae explains to his best friend about everything and the reply that he gets is this:
“Ok, but still this isn’t like you. You wouldn’t care if someone does pranks on you, you usually ignore it. Since you don’t really care about your image at school why would you care so much about the photo? Don’t tell me you turn into another person since you fall down from stairs.”
What Leeteuk tells Donghae is the truth. Donghae never showed any interest in anything except soccer and music. He really kept himself low, never showing off, never really caring about what other people thought about him. All his popularity that he gained is because of his own natural self, his passion towards soccer, his smile and his kindness. Never once did he try to look good and be someone he was not.
Donghae wonders why he would do all of this, why he would suddenly change. He’s not the old Lee Donghae any more - is this a bad thing?
All of this keeps messing with his mind. He turns his body to the right side and glimpses Eunhyuk sleeping in peace. He can see his face now, since Eunhyuk’s back is no longer turned to him. Donghae stares blankly at Eunhyuk’s face. He day dreams of Eunhyuk’s happy expression while eating strawberry yoghurt. The yogurt was all over around his mouth, his one eye lid eyes curve into crescent moon shapes and his gummy smile is always right there on his face. Donghae shakes his head and pulls himself back to reality, but his eyes are still fixed on Eunhyuk’s sleeping face. He studies his face. It looks so calm. He realises that Eunhyuk has a very white, milky skin, unlike his own skin, which is quite tanned from playing on the soccer field too much. His eyes are getting heavy and he eventually falls into his own slumber.
The pranks haven’t stopped for Eunhyuk. He still needs to get back at Donghae somehow. He knows that Donghae planned everything that happened yesterday. As he’s lived in the same room as Donghae for about two weeks by now, he knows that Donghae is a really tidy person. Donghae, who loves the outdoors a whole lot, occasionally asks the nurse to push his wheelchair around the park. This would be the perfect opportunity for Eunhyuk to take his revenge. When the opportunity arrives, Eunhyuk gets up straight away and, with the help of his crutches, heads towards Donghae’s bed. He opens Donghae’s bag, and takes out everything inside of it. The clothes, books, everything. He puts it all in random places - under the bed, on the bed, on the table and even in the toilet. Eunhyuk thinks that this will do the trick just fine. When Donghae returns to the room to get some rest, he sees his bag is empty and his belongings are all over the place. He looks in Eunhyuk’s direction and finds that he is still sleeping. Well, sleeping or pretending to be asleep. Donghae simply takes a very deep breath, tries to calm himself down and remembers what Leeteuk said last night. He just needs to be himself. Since his hand has recovered by now, it’s easier for him to pick everything up and put it back in his bag. Eunhyuk, who is pretending to be asleep, starts feeling guilty after hearing Donghae’s grunts here and there. Eunhyuk feels conflicted - was he out of line or not? He feels terrible. How could he could something so childish? On the other hand, it felt so right to get back at Donghae. He eventually decides to act innocent, as if there was nothing wrong. Each of the boys has lunch, dinner and then falls asleep.
Donghae realized that tomorrow will be Eunhyuk’s eighteenth birthday, so when he went out earlier this morning, he asked the nurse to help him buy a strawberry shortcake. He thinks that, with this cake, he can make a peace pact with Eunhyuk. Finding his stuff spread everywhere had changed everything. Something within Donghae just wants to forget about peace and find another path to revenge, but he does feel sorry for Eunhyuk, who has to spend his eighteenth birthday in a hospital room. Donghae hates it so much that since he meet Eunhyuk, he’s suddenly always felt so unsure about himself. He can’t make any clear decisions - everything is so spontaneous and out of character. Donghae has come to his last resort for solving this problem - he decides to give the Eunhyuk the cake but take revenge on him at the same time. Donghae puts the cake on the small table beside Eunhyuk’s bed and sneaks slowly to the toilet to get some water in a cup. He pours the water onto, ahem, a crucial lower part of Eunhyuk, hoping desperately that the coldness on that area won’t wake him up. Donghae laughs quietly and goes back to his warm bed. He’s looking forward to Eunhyuk’s expression tomorrow morning.
“What is this!?” Eunhyuk screams early in the morning.
Donghae, who was already looking forward Eunhyuk’s reaction, wakes up and pretends to try to see what’s going on. Instead of showing it to Donghae, Eunhyuk covers the part which is wet with his blanket. He just smiles toward Donghae and explains that there’s nothing wrong at all. Donghae can see that Eunhyuk is really embarrassed about this, his soft and white cheek covering themselves with a bright red blush. Eunhyuk looks down so that Donghae can’t catch his eye. He’s just so embarrassed with everything that is going on right now. He doesn’t know why it’s wet down there, though he can think of some possibilities. Staring blankly at the white sheet, he realises that it could have been one of Donghae’s pranks. Luckily for Eunhyuk, the nurse has not arrived, or else it would have been worse. Since no real damage has been done, Eunhyuk thinks he needs to let go this time, since what he did yesterday was much worse than this. Eunhyuk slowly walks to the toilet and changes his clothes. Donghae, who wants to laugh after seeing Eunhyuk’s funny reaction, decides that he has had his fun already. Today is Eunhyuk’s day after all. He wants Eunhyuk to be happy. Wait. He wants Eunhyuk to be happy? Is that right? Well, he does want to make a peace pact with Eunhyuk after all, what’s wrong with wishing him to be happy? Especially today. Donghae just reads the newspaper while lying on his bed, he doesn’t say happy birthday at all, and just treats today as any other day. Since today is Tuesday, Eunhyuk’s parents would still be working, so the only thing that he’s looking forward to would be his friends’ visit.
“Wah, strawberry shortcake!” Eunhyuk says excitedly as he puts the cake right in front of him. His face brightens up instantly and he claps his hands together like a four year old child meeting his new toys on Christmas Day. He takes a spoonful of the cake and eats it by himself - he’s drowning in his own little world, a sugar rush taking over his body. Donghae looks at Eunhyuk’s happy face intently. He wonders how that skinny small body could fit that one whole cake inside of it. How could a boy love strawberry this much? What if there’s actually bad people who put poison in that cake? Donghae chuckles to himself. He doesn’t know whether he finds it cute or dumb. As Eunhyuk finishes the last spoonful of the cake, the sound of door opening can be heard.
“CONGRATULATION! Saengilchulka hamida eunhyukkie!” Heechul and Hankyung bring quite a lot of people to celebrate Eunhyuk’s birthday. There’s balloons, party poppers and a big strawberry cake for everyone. As Eunhyuk sees the big birthday cake his face brightens up once again and his gummy smile is on the loose. Nobody could stop him from smiling from happiness. He sees how people care about him and is thankful for what they have done for him. Eunhyuk concludes that the small strawberry short cake would be from his parents who could have dropped it off early in the morning. Eunhyuk becomes the center of attention for everyone. They surround his bed and just talk to him and ask how he is doing. They put some music on. The volume is not too loud so it would not be a problem at all for the other neighbours in hospital’s rooms. They had a small dance session and Eunhyuk just claps happily to see live dancing after such a long time. Dance is his passion, after all - Eunhyuk tries to dance as much as he can on his bed. He did some hand movements and chest popping. The laughter surrounds Eunhyuk and Donghae can see that Eunhyuk is having a fun day.
The sun has set and his friends decided to leave the hospital. Donghae receives a text message that says that Eunhyuk parents can’t come today to hospital due business purposes and he’s being asked to accompany him for the rest of the day. As for Eunhyuk, he receives apologetic text messages from his parents, who promise that they would make it up to him one day and will bring his favourite strawberry cheese cake. Eunhyuk understands that his parent try their hardest to make money for him to go to college. He can’t really blame them for not coming today, but he realizes that small strawberry cake is not from his friends nor his parents. It never crosses his mind that Donghae could be the one who gave that small cake to him - his mind automatically goes to the possibility that one of his admirers did this. It’s an awkward silence. Donghae doesn’t know exactly how to spend time with Eunhyuk, how to make him feel better, since all they do is tease each other and sarcastically talk to each other when their parents are not around. When their parents are around, they would each put on a false pretense, smile with each other and even pat each other shoulder (which was malicious slaps in disguise). For Eunhyuk it’s really an awkward moment too, since the room was full of voices just a moment ago and now it’s so quite that it feels like he’s being pressured to say something. He has no mood for teasing Donghae, since he’s a bit down too.
The sound of crutches being move break the silence, Donghae sees Eunhyuk that try to get out from the bed and making his way to the toilet. The ringtone of “Boom Boom” can be heard by Donghae after Eunhyuk leave the room for the toilet, it’s from Eunhyuk’s iphone. Donghae thinks that this will be a great opportunity to have a conversation with Eunhyuk and then we’ll see how it goes. Donghae make his way and grabs the phone, when he sees that “Omma” written on the top of the screen. His thumb about to touch the screen to answer the phone but it’s too late. The call becomes a missed call and another screen comes up. Donghae just couldn’t believe what he is seeing right now. He can’t describe what’s happening right now, he blinks his eyes for a few time, his cheek becomes really warm, and his mouth shape “O” for a few minutes. Donghae put down the phone carefully, he walks back with his crutches back to his warm bed, without blinking and empty gaze he tucks in himself with the blanket and burst into laughter suddenly.
“HAHAHAHAHA…” tears comes out from the corner of his eyes because of the laughter that he can’t control anymore. Eunhyuk makes a step inside the room and looking at Donghae strangely.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Donghae hold his stomach while continue his laughing, his voice fill the entire room and Eunhyuk just staring at him with “This guy must be crazy” expression on his face. After several minutes of laughing, Donghae try to hold and control his laughter, every time he tries to look at Eunhyuk’s face it gets harder and harder to control his own emotion. So he decides to shoot it all out to Eunhyuk in one sentence.
“You have quite a collection in there, Mr. Yadong” as Donghae points toward Eunhyuk’s iphone. Suddenly Eunhyuk has cold feet but hot in the same time, he can’t believe that Donghae found out his deepest secret, even his best friends doesn’t know about this. With the loudest voice that he can make he shouts at Donghae, telling Donghae to mind his own business. Donghae just sits there looking at Eunhyuk smiling in a dorky way.
“As if you never watch it.”
“Actually, I don’t”
“You must be gay.”
“No I’m not. I just don’t have time for that and I don’t need it”
“Seriously? You got to be kidding me”
“Well unlike you there are actually some people who doesn’t have dirty mind”
“Shut up, you’re so nosy do you know that?”
“Me? I was just about to pick up your phone so your mom wouldn’t worry about you, it just happen that you are in the middle of something”
Eunhyuk clears his throat and try to cover his embarrassment by talking confidently.
“Well it’s normal for guy”
“It’s not normal if you have it in your phone and you bring it everywhere, you got like twenty of them”
Eunhyuk who lose in that conversation suddenly break out from his strong shell and show Donghae another side of him that he never shows before. Eunhyuk pouts as a small drop of tears peeking in the corner of his eyes, and he says
“I’m not a pervert” he goes to his own bed and pulls the blanket on top of his head so it covers his whole body. Donghae smiles widely, he feels his cheek has gone tired because all of this.
“I never said that you are pervert” he says to Eunhyuk with a calm voice.
“Huhh”
Another secret that they share that nobody ever find yet. The fact that what they have been doing to each other is rather unfriendly but they have known each other through secret that no one know. How Donghae treasure his soft toy that he has since he was a kid, how Eunhyuk have a collection of porn hiding in his iphone, and other little detail that they can found about each other through their daily activity in that hospital room. It’s amazing how much you can know about someone because of this unfortunate accident. It’s amazing how you unaware something deep has stolen a place in your heart.

The last day in Hospital
Everybody are so excited, today is their last night together in the same room. All the clothes have been pack and they are ready to go for tomorrow morning. No more cast and no more tasteless hospital food. They are looking forward to meet all their friends and resume their ordinary activity. Donghae is definitely looking forward to his soccer member and training together for the competition. For Eunhyuk, he has cerographs a new dance for the festival that coming up soon, he really wants to dance all together again with his group. The full moon shines brightly, lights are off and they are ready to sleep. They drift off to sleep and start regaining all energy that they need for their first day come back to school. Rain is pouring down really hard at that night, it’s windy and lightning comes to visit once a while. Eunhyuk start to mumbles in his sleep, he jerks his body constantly on his bed, his breathing starts become difficult and he starts screaming suddenly while he still closing his eyes.
“Eunhyuk! Eunhyuk!” Donghae shouts while he tries to wake up Eunhyuk from his nightmare by shaking Eunhyuk’s shoulder back and forth. Eunhyuk open his eyes but the fear on his face hasn’t disappear. He hugs Donghae straight away and bury his head on Donghae’s chest while his arm circling Donghae’s waist. Donghae hugs Eunhyuk back and tries to calm him down.
“Shussh.. Shussh.. Everything is alright” Donghae says slowly, Eunhyuk breathes normally again his tear has been washed off because of Donghae’s t-shirt. Eunhyuk who’s still on Donghae’s chest could hear a rapid fast heartbeat. He’s back to his senses that he’s hugging Donghae right now, he let go and immediately look away from Donghae.
“I’m sorry”
“That’s okay”
Nothing can come out from their mouth. Beside sounds of heavy rain against the window they can hear the sound of their own heartbeat, beating so fast and loud that they think the others could hear it. They just want to stay there right where they are, the time seems to stop for both of them until their eyes meet each other. What is this?
