Beginner/Intermediate

The program I'm using is PS-CS and involves selective colouring so I'm not sure if it'll
transfer into PSP or Gimp but if there's a will, there's a way. lol.

Open up your image and crop and resize.

Duplicate your base icon and set it to Screen 27%.
(mess around with this one seeing you might not need it)

Duplicate your base icon and set it to Softlight 100%.
(mess around with this one seeing you might not need it)

Go to Layer> New Adjustment Layer>Hue/ Saturation
and put saturation: +25
(mess around with this one)

Go to Layer> New Adjustment Layer>Selective Color
(i know... i hate selective coloring too)
REDS:         -51     0        0       0

GREENS:     0    -100   100   -27

Go to Layer> New Adjustment Layer>Selective Color
REDS:           -45    -7      +22   +100

YELLOWS:   -4    -39    +100   -32

GREENS:       0     -62        0     +100

CYAN:            0    -100       0    +100

NEUTRALS: -21     0         0         0
*note, this layer can be VERY dramatic so mess around with this

Go to Layer> New Adjustment Layer>Selective Color
(okay, i promise, this is the last selective layer)
GREENS:   0    -31    +100    0

Go to  Layers>New Adjustment Layers> Brightness/Contrast:
Brightness: -3
Contrast: +6

And TADA!  From this:

Your finished icon won't be this exact coloring 'cos it all depends on your base so any questions?
