So my sister got married yesterday. Even though we've planned and partied for this event for a year, it still seems odd that it's happened. I'm not going to bore anyone with play by plays, just wanted to say the wedding was so much fun, and so elegant, despite the unexpected June heatwave.
This group of people...well, they're wonderful. They're all really friendly, and not in that fake, obligatory sense. I also got to meet my brother-in-law's family for the first time (I have a brother now!!) They flew here from Turkey and don't speak a lot of English, and I only know three words of Turkish so far, so communication was minimal, but they're really nice.
The manor itself was gorgeous and the attention the staff paid to detail was beyond amazing. What matters most is that everyone had a good time, which they did. We even made s'mores during the after party.
It may have been fancier than my specific tastes, what with being black tie and such, but all in all, despite minor uncomforts and sore feet after hours of dancing in non-supportive shoes, it was a lot of fun to dress extravagantly.
That and...drinking a cosmopolitan in 40 seconds yields two results: Lots of dancing and a very quick but potent buzz.
And always remember this: If you're not beyond being tired after a wedding, you didn't even try to have a good time.
