So, I'm working late tonight. Later than usual. But at least it's quiet and peaceful and relatively empty.
So, I think I forgot to tell you [Austin, etc.] but I totally took care of a blown power fuse at my apartment all by myself. And to make this statement seem as amazing to you as it is to me: I know not a damned thing of these mechanical contraptions. Hell, I wouldn't even know how to change my tire to save my life. Ever seen 28 Days Later? I totally would've died during that tunnel scene. Anyways.
I was home alone when the fuse blew last Sunday. I had to go downstairs and mess around in the electrical fuse box outside to find the offending fuse - which meant removing the fuse and then running through the entire apartment turning on lights, noting which ones couldn't turn on anymore. The one that had no effect on the lights - aside from those already out - was the bastard fuse I'd been looking for. After that, I spent a good three hours trying to find a store that carried fuses and was open past, oh, 2pm on a Sunday [goddamn you, Richmond]. I finally found replacement fuses at Wal*Mart. Oh, Wal*Mart. And then, I couldn't leave - I had to stock up on unhealthy foods! I was compelled to!
That night, once Francis and Laura and Chris made it back, we ate something I've decided to call french fry pie. Yes I made it, and trust me, you don't want to know what it is.
Anyways, I got home and replaced the plug and saved the day. Go me.
I have such a yearning for egg rolls right now. You cannot imagine. Like... if I had any money at all right now, I'd totally spend it all on egg rolls. And hell, why stop there - I like lo mein too. And sesame chicken, and mu shu pork and fried bananas and those vegetable dishes with the fried tofu and chicken with broccoli, and..... I need to be eating Chinese food right now.
No, really.
