The lack of awareness over the tsunamis in Asia is overwhelming.
People all over the world might take a few minutes to stop and consider what's happened, and then realize they're lucky to go to sleep tonight in a warm bed, with food in their stomach. But what then? They'll go to work, go to school, go on with their lives. All the while, taking everything for granted.
Tens of thousands of people are dead. Millions of people are homeless, thousands of children orphaned and thousands of parents still waiting by the sea for their lost children.
Let's go one day without updating our journals -- a day of silence in memory of those who have died, and in recognition for the things that are sometimes taken for granted -- food, shelter, family, health. January 3, 2005. On that day, go 24 hours without updating, or commenting on livejournal.com. Let's remember.
