Past Due Update
So it's been quite some time and I find that I'm hardly updating and only checking the friends page every couple days. So goes life. So he summer is slowly but surely coming to a close and with that I've been on the search for a new job to start in September. I had 3 interviews over the last few days and have follow-up training/observation days for each of them. My number one choice right now is with a progressive preschool in Portland that is teaming up with a an environmentally friendly diaper company to open a leading eco-friendly/green preschool in January. Until then it'd be located in a Victorian house down in the Pearl for 9 kids to 3 teachers, then 75 kids and many more teachers in the Winter. It's definitely something I could see myself at for a long time and also be proud to be apart of such a progressive way of approaching childcare (very organic, aware of the environment, very naturalist approach to children). The other one is a nanny situation with a very awesome family. It's an infant and 2.5 year old and the family practices attachment parenting, fully organic/vegetarian, cloth diapers, no TV in the house, naturalistic approach to play. The parents are pretty much ideal and think of their nanny as an extended part of the family so very supportive. The down-side to that one is it's way out off Foster Rd and 82nd and without traffic takes almost 30 minutes to get there and I would be needed at 7:30 in the morning some days. The third is an assistant in a Montessori inspired preschool and it'd just be me and the owner/co-teacher for 8-13 kids. The eco-friendly top choice still needs to confirm with the owner that it'd be okay for me to start in September rather than next week like they were hoping for.
In other news, Colin's been gone two weeks on tour with the band and comes home Wednesday which will be lovely. The weeks have gone quickly I suppose, but realizing that we've missed out on half a month of things is a bit bumming. I get my tattoo mostly finished tonight (!) which I'm stoked for. Having half color is irritating because people are dumb with their questions.
Back to the mines for me though...
