Weekend Update

Wow, I had quite a spectacular weekend. Being that I have nothing better to do this free mod, I will recount it to all you who care (which is probably not many):

For all of you who don't know, I went to Rainbow (it's a youth group conference, not a gay pride convention) this weekend. When we got there friday, we went up to our room in the 48th floor of the Mariot hotel in the Renissance Center (yeah, pretty ritzy). Since every youth group typically has a floor to themselves, we chilled and did stuff in the hall. For all those who have never been in this particular Mariot, its circular, so the hallways wrap around and what-have-you (that isn't really that impressive, but will probably give you a better picture of where we were staying). Anyway, we just hung out that night and watched movies with our youth group whilst playing guitar and the likes. Saturday was the real kick off to the whole conference. We had general session (which basically get the yg's together and gives them general info about it) and split off to go to our seminars. Just to let all of you know, though the advertised purpose is to get closer to God and whatever, the underline theme is basically having an excuse to get youth groups together so that the guys and girls can check each other out and hook up. Nothing exciting happened until the dance (which was very stupidly schedualed for 2-5 in the afternoon. IDIOTS!!). That's when I busted out my guitar and made $16 from people throwing cash into my guitar case. $11 of said dollars was change. F-ing incredible. After that, busted a move on the dance floor and got ready for mass. I was supposed to sing with the U of D and Ladywood Choirs. Ladywood showed up (mainly because most of them were there anyway). Only Chris Madison, Matt Marsh (who technically isnt even part of the choir anymore), and I showed up for U of D. I realized later that it was because of the ass-load of snow we got. Anyway, that was pretty messed, but I got through. Sunday was friggin awesome. I got to go to a seminar lead by Fr. Boyton about laughter. For all those who know Br. B, you'll understand how much that kicked ass. Then came the jam session. This is basically where some 300 odd people were gathered around where the band was playing and listened to people singing, playing piano, or both. I stepped up. I was so nervous, i was visibilly shaking. However, I held it together and played Hey Jude for the croud. The reaction was amazing. Being that this is a Christian conference, people there are pretty charged and accepting. So basically they got really into it and couldnt get enough of it. The band even backed me up when I started playing. When I stopped, the roar that followed was deafening. People, for the rest of the day, came up to me and were like, "you were effing awesome". After all that, got a "313" skull cap, packed up and got in the car to take me home. Ladies and Gents, my last conference was a huge success. I am Happy.
