Nova Scotia agate necklace

Aug 21, 2011 16:38

I've been playing with some Nova Scotia agate stones I picked up this summer.  I've finished the first piece though it was more of a rescue than a planned project.  While cutting one of the pieces of stone, it flaked on me.  I took the flake and polished it and set it into a small pendant.  Here are some photos.

The slab of agate before it was cut with the light shining through from behind.  Below is the stone with the light shining on the face of it. (sorry for the glare)

Me working on the stone.  I'm wearing my safety lenses and a dust mask while polishing the stone.  Rock dust turns to cement in the lungs so it's not something you want to breathe in.

Ta and Da, the finished necklace set in a sterling silver bezel and finished with a sterling silver chain and handmade clasp.
