Beauty and the Beast meets Desperate Housewives and other stories

Before all else, can someone please explain to me why you would be protesting naked on bicycles if you don't happen to be protesting clothes.  I have thought long and hard on this subject...  And, well, I just don't get it.

Er, otherwise, in the weird movie department, we have Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, which is generally a movie about photography (which I know little about) and specifically a movie about Diane Arbus (which  I know even less about), and Oldboy, which happens to be the most fucked up little film that I've ever watched.

While I can't vouch for Fur's authenticity or ability to successfully depict Arbus, I can say that it feels like a string of photographs with the way that the camera lingers on things before moving on and that the love story is strange, heartbreaking, and beautiful.  So, go watch it.

Oldboy.  Oh dear.  Well, first off, it was Korean and quite poorly dubbed into English, which threw me off a bit, at first.  I probably would have been better off with just using subtitles.  Otherwise it was quite well done, and the story had me hooked (even if I did predict the ending as soon as he met the girl and from there the movie became increasingly like the trainwreck that you keep staring at in fascination and horror).  I'm a sucker for a good revenge plot, and this really did depict the ultimate revenge.

But for the moment I need to find a movie with a strong female character to wash the annoying shrieking from Oldboy out of my ears.  (I wonder, are there men who find shrieking women attractive?  Is this some intriguing form of masochism?)
