Seriously? Seriously?

Birth control pills ≠ abortion, you idiots.

First off, I come from a country where abortion is free and accessible to all, and I don't actually have a problem with it. Foetus (aka tiny cluster of cells) ≠ person. What a person does with her foetus is her business.

Secondly, medically speaking, the synthetic oestrogen and progesterone in the pill simulate the state of pregnancy, so that, if taken correctly, ovulation doesn't happen. Which means that fertilisation, followed by implantation, doesn't happen.

It also balances out hormone levels, and means that conditions brought about by problems with hormone levels are lessened-like endometriosis. I've looked it up, and there is absolutely no scientific evidence to suggest that the pill prevents implantation, should fertilisation occur. I had assumed that this was common knowledge, given that I learned about it in high school biology, but apparently I was wrong.

If you try to convince me otherwise, I will stab your eyes out with an IUD.

Love you too,
Silburygirl
