Not Dead.
No, I am not dead. Yes, I am completely swamped with work. Being a beginning teacher brings a lot of shit with it. *pained* I am working hard to catch up and eventually find some time. It will happen, trust me. Also, I am still checking my flist, so if something really catches my eye, I' ll reply to it. If there's something I missed that I definitely need to check - yes, I saw the plagiarizing thing, and I' ll reply to
raven_rising's awesome fic as soon as I can - then please let me know. ;)
Meme.
I'll just do some memes, as they don't take quite as long as serious posts, heh.
fencer_x gave me these things to 'explain'. ^^
1) BuriMyu
2) Bleach
3) fanfiction
4) your username :D
5) ...Osamu-chan ♥
1. Burimyu
Well, it all started with my love for Bleach. I think it's an amazing manga, with a truckload of fun and diverse characters to play with. I've been dabbling in it for a while now, but never really got into it until recently. When I found out that there was also a musical I had to check it out. So, I did and fell in love. Especially when I saw all the behind the scenes stuff.
These people are so amazing and lovely that I couldn't help but adore them. Awesome folk. *misses them already*
2. Bleach
I had heard about Bleach a long time ago, but I hadn't wanted to give it a go simply because I have no patience and I knew that I would want to find out what happened next every time I caught up to the manga. So, for a while I didn't even bother giving it a go, until I was incredibly bored one day and figured I could at least try the first couple of chapters. I liked it, read on, and once this character called 'Byakuya' showed up, I was sold.
I'm still surprised I lasted long enough to get to Soul Society, because I'm not the hugest Rukia or Ichigo fan and they were the primary characters in the first couple of 'chapters'. However, once I was introduced to Soul Society, its rules, and its many characters - characters that included a battle-crazed madman and a dubious scientist - I couldn't help myself and read through everything in a day or two. I then watched the anime and even started writing. It took me a while yet to become active in the community, but when I did I realized I enjoy it immensely.
As of yet Bleach is still the only series I read and watch every week. I have never been so 'loyal' to anything like that. *grin*
3. Fanfiction.
I've always been interested in creating stories. When I was young I'd act out all sorts of scenarios with my dolls and play-animals. Eventually this led to me writing. I wrote in Dutch for my own newspaper - a paper that was printed whenever I felt like it and distributed to random family members - but it wasn't anything serious yet.
This changed when I tried writing in English. I found out that I could combine my love for English with my love for writing and practice my English while doing so. I still believe it's the only reason I ever became an English teacher.
Fandom-wise I started writing in fandoms such as Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. The first, especially, was a rather tough crowd and I learned immensely from the experience. There are no stricter critics than those that have J.R.R. Tolkien as their biggest influence. XD As a result my English improved drastically to what it is today - though I'm still learning - and I've adopted pretty much the same reviewing-style.
Now I write fanfiction for whatever fandom interests me. It really allows me to be active in fandom, practice my English, and give life to the stories in my head. *grin*
4. Username.
'Silawen' comes from Tolkien's Elvish. I was an ickle little girl when I first came up with it, using the Elvish verb sil- (to shine) and -wen maiden) to make 'shining maiden'. I don't know where the a came from, but I either made it up or used Tolkien's grammar. It's been a while, you see. XD
Now I use it wherever I go. Though there is one other person online who uses the name - though she started using it years after I did and doesn't 'travel' in the same circles, so it's not a problem - it really feels like my name. 'Sila' is something I would probably respond to even in real life.
5. Osamu-chan
Hee. I don't know what happened there. I know that I came into my Burimyu love promising myself not to fall for the actors of my favourite characters. I just thought that would be way too cliché and sad. What happened, though, was exactly what I'd promised myself I wouldn't do. I could not help but adore Osamu-chan and Shougo-san.
Osamu-chan is just the right kind of adorkable for me. He's pretty and a dork. Works perfectly. Plus, he seems a goof who really enjoys life, especially when surrounded by friends. His adoration for Byakuya made me like him too, because anyone who isn't afraid to fanboy publically is okay in my book.
Now I love pretty much all Burimyu actors, but him especially. He's the cutest dork to ever dork.
MEME: Post a sentence (or two) from as many of your WIPs as you want, with no explanation attached.
Snagged from
horusguard76.
I have about twenty WIPs, but I'll only post the three I have on this laptop. So you're in luck, I won't swamp you with crap. XD
1. Only one - the tiniest, colourful hair blood-streaked and unkempt - keeps her eyes upward and in front of her, not letting even the smallest quiver move her lips. She stands firm.
2. “We seem to meet each other at rather odd hours, fukutaichou. Maybe we should start expecting it.” He glanced at the book she was holding. “And I have to admit that when I was told you regularly visited to make use of the library, I had expected neither this hour of the day, nor the subject matter you'd choose to read.”
3. Shunsui doesn't look at him, but the slight curl of his lips tells Ukitake that he's happy to have him there. It leaves soon after, replaced by grim determination as Hitsugaya's bankai withers away.
“Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire. There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any Manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went to far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga.”
Why, Nick, U SO FUNNY! Asshole.
