Another Dream and About My Spanish

Like usually the following is just part of another larger dream and the reason I'm talking about it in the first place is because there is something that stands out for me:

In the dream I was in a building in San Antonio and was about to get in an elevator when the doors open.  When I proceded to come in there was a girl there and apparently was a tourist and was beginning to speak with me.  This girl was about my age and height, but she had green eyes, short dark brown hair, and a bit slim.  From what I could tell she was indeed a British tourist and was a student in the UK.  I think we were talking about details about San Antonio and commenting how wonderful it is.  When we got off from the elevator, we took our ways but deep inside I wanted to tell her that she should come back and I would love being her tour guide on her next trip (despite my little knowledge of the city).   Of course being a bit shy and insecure, I kept it to myself.  As I walked forward I could tell I was in downtown San Antonio not far from the Alamo, but it looked a bit more surrealistic with bigger buildings and cathedrals and the scene looked like there was a Mardi Gras celabration going on.  Whoa!  It must have been a reflection of my recent unexpected trip to San Antonio.

Yikes!  Now lately whenever I speak to my mother in Spanish, I can't help but notice it has been faltering.  To my ears my Spanish now sounds a bit fractured and a bit Tex-Mex, despite efforts to speak a more formal, standardized Mexican Spanish.

I think the reason is not just because I live in this part of the U.S. (the prime reason), but also reading/listening/watching a lot of material in British English (I even jokingly speak with a British accent with a couple of friends/co-workers).  Oh, yeah, I also practice French in some of my spare time.
