Just a quick update -- I'm currently strongly leaning towards getting a masters degree in counseling -- probably couples and family therapy. If any of you know anything about this field or know of people that I should talk to I'd love to hear about it. I'm currently considering which programs to apply to and whether or not I should focus on a general counseling program, a specific MFT program, or a program with a general approach that later allows you to specialize. I'm interested in both masters and doctoral programs, but I'm strongly leaning towards starting with a masters program given that most of the doc programs seem to incorporate masters coursework and I should be able to switch to a doctoral program once I complete my masters should I want to go that route. I doubt I'll want to do that though given that I am more interested in clinical work than research. Anywho, thanks in advance for any insight that you all might have =)
