Kat,

DO NOT in ANY way shape or form even THINK about "turning the other cheek" in the face of assualt. i am sorry to say this, but even THINKING about doing such a thing is not just abhorrent, its plain stupid. what do you expect? the would-be assailant would just go, Oh well geez since god is on your side who am i to argue, see you later.
criminals dont care about your or your beliefs. you can be like a tibetan monk and get yourself murdered in the name of turning the other cheek, or you can live the life that you were put on this earth to live. you are NOT a martyr. DO NOT hesitate to fight for your life. do you remember the first thing we learned in year seven? "you have the right to feel safe all the time" and if you feel safer with your right arm out, then go for it. you gotta fight for this right when you need to.

as for having close male friends, who ever said that people will assume more than that is a close-minded fool. only SHE will think such a thing, and that reflects more on her own personal issues which SHE has, not any issues that YOU may have in your relationship. to put it in different terms, as i read today: "you have your own life to live and at its end, the opinion that amounts to anything is that which God bestows."

and in regard to letting people in your touch-space, you have always seemed a hugging type of person to me. until now i wasn't aware you were "very picky about who gets inside my touch bubble". perhaps its a reflection?

finally, it is not possible to "devalue" human touch. to feel the warmth of another human is to know that you are not alone and that you are alive. There is a book called Tuesdays With Morrie that i can reccommend that involves the preciousness of human touch.

it was good to see you the other night, take care x
