A/N: I probably will go on hiatus or something. My mind is fucked up.
To the story: I tried to play around a little bit, I don't really know what kind of crap I wrote. Typos are my friends...short is short.
It starts all on one fine spring day. Donghae sits on a bench near the ocean where he can see people passing by and the waves of the seemingly neverending ocean float. He likes the breeze of the summer which still lingers in the air brushing his bangs aside letting him have a clearer view at everything.
He sighs, lets out all the built-up frustration of the last few weeks. College had kept him busy and his lovelife had suffered under the pressure of getting good marks in his final exams. The worst of all things was the fact that he himself broke up with his lover. There had been a tiny possibility that he would have been able to go on dating Kibum but he noticed he slowly had fallen out of love.
He let out another sigh and closed his eyes. It was nice to hear the sound of the waves mixed with the noise coming from the street. He always had prefered the silent melody of the ocean though. It had helped him throughout the past and gave him strength. He loved to laze around at this place, it was his not so secret place with his past best friend Hyukjae.
Hyukjae. He sighed once more. He hadn't seen him in years. He had disappeared like the now dead leaves flying around in the air to a place he never got to know of. He wondered if Hyukjae had forgotten him, if he actually still was alive. His mother had never told him where his best friend went to but she always reassured him that Hyukjae was not with his dad. It didn't comfort him at all.
The wind got stronger waving around Donghae's hair. He tried to open his eyes but failed. Hands were covering them leaving him without his eyesight for another minute. He paniced, felt the blood rushing through his veins, what was he supposed to do? He felt a warm breathe brushing his ear, a tender voice telling him to stay calm.
The person lowered his hands, holding Donghae's shoulders, warming up Donghae's body a little bit more. A friendly smile was thrown at him, a face of disbelieve still plastered on Donghae's face. He closed his eyes once more, he always tended to daydream and hallucinate at this place.
Those close eyelids liftet theirselves up again, his eyes showing him a now pissed off Hyukjae. He rubbed his eyes, was that really Hyukjae standing in front of him now? Donghae tell me you forgot me and I'll beat the hell out of you. Donghae loved the mixture of Hyukjae's voice with the sound of the waves which made it hard for him to make out what Hyukjae was saying.
He stood up, embraced his best friend. It was nice to feel entirely happy again, leaving all worries behind. Donghae didn't notice his tears falling down on Hyukjae's shoulder like little raindrops falling out of the sky. It was Hyukjae's scent he had missed, the scent which made him feel at home, this particular scent he would give up for everything else.
He looked up and smiled at his best friend this time with teary eyes. Hyukjae took his hand and lead him to a path near the ocean. They always had walked down this path whenever they were down or felt like sharing a secret.
Hyukjae was nervous but still awkwardly smiled and didn't let go of Donghae's hand. They both slowed down until they were standing in the middle of nowhere. It was as if time stood still, the waves backed out, leaving an uncomfortable silence between the two.
I'm sorry for leaving without telling you anything about it. My parents had planned it since the day we moved to Mokpo but I never could gather the courage to tell you about it. He squished Donghae's hand. I went to Seoul to see my fiancée. Hyukjae never had told him anything about his 'fiancée'. In fact Hyukjae never really had spoken about anything of his private life. I know I've never told you about her, it was all set up, she was from a rich family. Somebody who suit my parents expectations, you know them. But I couldn't get myself to fall in love with her, I couldn't bear to give her my heart which already belongs to somebody else.
The waves slowly started to move again, setting a slow rhythm. Donghae was staring at their still entwined hands. Why are you telling me all this? A part of Donghae knew that Hyukjae just wanted to get rid of this story he kept secret from him, another part inside of him hoped for it to be something more than just a plain story he had to tell.
Donghae had noticed that over the last three years of Hyukjae's absence his feelings for his best friend got stronger and he hopelessly had fallen in love with the latter. I don't exactly know how to tell you but I know why I came back and why I ended the engagement with my ex-fiancée. My heart always starts to ache whenever I think about you Donghae, it's as if somebody is constantly stabbing my heart with a knife, ripping it apart a little bit more. I don't want us to be friend anymore, I want to give you my heart and receive yours instead. Please Donghae, tell me this wasn't all for nothing. He gave him a soft smile, took Hyukjae's hand and placed it onto his chest, his heart, letting Hyukjae feel his heartbeat. He closed his eyes once more and enjoyed the moment while he nodded.
They shared their first kiss, stayed at that place a little longer, observing the constant movement of the ocean. Both of their backviews could be seen, hands holding onto the other, heading home together and disappearing into the darkness of the night. Spring never had been this beautiful.
