It is located in the center of Mama's Minerals, Albuquerque NM.
Strands and strands of gemstones stretched out by the fields of Elysium. Multicolored sapphires, labradorite skulls, meteorite chips, every shade of freshwater pearl imaginable. It was... truly an experience. I could have wept. The only downside is that nearly everything is sold by strand, which makes some of the higher-priced gems (fan cut peridot!) quite expensive to buy all at once. And as I blew my March supply budget before I left, I abstained from major purchases today. But next month... oh, NEXT MONTH. There will be lots of money dropped.
Today was spent checking out some of the shops in ABQ... we had house errands to run, then I tried three of the many, many bead and jewelry shops in town. There are several in bike distance to my house, and the silver prices are about $4 cheaper per oz. than they are back East. Mizz
noralita, I am glad I didn't quote you yet, because I found great silver here that is perfect. Will email you tomorrow... still working on finding the right stones.
Tribal dancers, be very very jealous. I went to Old World Imports in Nob Hill, which is run by Flo who also runs Tribal Souk. It was like tribal dancer jewelry heaven, and I've already spotted a big spiky cuff I absolutely must have. PLUS dancers get a discount. Met Flo; I'll be dropping in on her class on Wednesday.
Nob Hill has lots of restaurants, lots of piercing and tattooing joints, a funky mask shop, a comics store. It's the ABQ equivalent of Hampden. We had dinner at Gardunos in uptown, which is the ABQ equivalent of Columbia. They made the guacamole at our table. It was buttery and fresh and amazingly delicious. I had my first taste of tortilla soup, and that was... interesting. Not something I'm sure I'll have again, but that's not to say it was bad.
Anyhow, it was a good day. We've still yet to hit downtown, but I'm not really in a going out mood tonight. Soon, though.
