I made a couple of color tweaks to the temporary new layout. Note to self--
this is the best hexidecimal site I've seen yet. At any rate, I toned down the green a bit and turned the comment foreground to burgundy. I've emailed someone about helping me make a more permanent layout-- she's made layouts for me before that I absolutely love (she made the Hackers header I kept for over a year), and I just love her work. If she's too busy or whatnot, I'll tinker around some more. This really isn't bad as a temporary layout-- it's just too plain. Pretty photography, but the pic needs to be about 150px wider and about 100-150px shorter, in my opinion. Plus, I like text.
I was thinking that I might do a "ghosts of layouts past" post. I have almost all my old layouts saved-- either a screenshot or the background, from back when my old computer, Lucy III, crashed. I did Winter, Spring... even one that was just my stomach. Heh.
Last night, I did get some writing done. Step one is just getting it down. After that, I'm a compulsive editor. I hope to have a chapter/partial chapter to post by this weekend. I'm definitely going to be writing Ellicott City into the setting, but I need to figure how to mesh it with my original setting-- Baltimore's Riverside Park. I don't know enough about any parks around Ellicott City to be able to pick a suitable replacement, and my visual for the park where Jenna meets Quinn is pretty set in my head. I could remove the pool, but I still need a playground and some sort of open space.
Have started taking pictures for the photo meme. Forgot to mail postcards this morning. Head-->desk. I can be such an airhead.
I am teaching myself how to sing The Mediaeval Baebes' 'The Snake.' I generally sing soprano harmony wherever I can, but the sound mixing makes it really hard to pick out the harmony at the end of phrases-- it kind of ebbs in and out. So I'm singing a mix of melody and soprano harmony while trying to wrap my tongue around the Italian. Thank god for all those diction classes in high school. I miss madrigals so much. So much. There's not a whole lot of options for madrigal groups accepting singers in Baltimore. There's the Bach Society, but we all know how I feel about Baroque music. Well, the RenFest is coming up, and there are always lots of groups there. I could ask around and see what else there is. Oh! And I finally contacted McDaniel's music dept. I'm getting a copy of our 2005 concert, which I'll rip to .wma, possibly .mp3, and share some good tracks of me singing (in a group). Right now, I only have "Come Again, Sweet Love."
And I have learned a new use for BPAL. Put a few drops on an old washcloth and toss it in the dryer with a load of clothes. Voila-- the best smelling laundry ever. Of course, if one were doing some sort of self-esteem working and using TAL oils, I can see how infusing your clothing with good energy would be similarly useful. Practical magic, how I love thee.
Also this weekend-- look out for some Autumn icons.
