a day in the life...

so last night was halloween at the usna, and it was so much fun!! we all dressed up in costumes...well, cool people did anyway. i was an angel, with my child's costume complete with faerie wings trimmed with feathers, and everyone thought it was "so cute." we also had some hilarious costumes among my classmates in my company. chris meyer went as xtina, and wore an itsy-bitsy polka-dot bikini and a fucia wig, despite being told by two of the firsties that he should have at least shaved. greene was the amazing hulk, and i got to paint him green, and nick lowe, tucker, and josh were gilligan, the skipper, and the professor. meg dressed as a lounge singer, but decided she would play mrs. howl, and meyer decided he'd be ginger. as soon as i figure out how to do it, i'll put the pictures up, cos they're hilarious.

dinner was crazy! all sorts of people running around. there was the jamaican bobsled team from "cool runnings," and a bunch of guys painted with no shirts on, and pillows with symbols taped to them going skipping around as care bears. the men's swim teaam wore speedoes, warpaint, and loincloths, and the men's water polo team dressed up the upperclass as rabbits (again, with only speedoes) and the plebes as carrots. trick-or-treating was interesting...it was the first time i've handed out candy...and i handed it out to upperclass. luckily the only thing to get trashed in my room was my roommates' rack.

we got a sleep-in this morning, and it was lots of fun...it was the first time i've had 8 hours of sleep here.

uhm...tomorrow is the weekend, and if my impeccable (not) knowledge of my daily rates serves me well, then there are only 26 days until i go home for thanksgiving and 49 (at most) until i go home for christmas! and tomorrow is friday, and i'm getting a face book. yaaaaaaay!

yesterday i went to 3-0 to buy tickets for the opera verdi europa that's coming to the academy novemeber 8, and i have tickets that are in the center of the first row!!! i'm so excited, especially because my training officer is letting kelly and me miss study hour that night to go see it.

lots of love.

oh, by the way, slane-o, if you read this, i'm going on the notre dame movement order. my parents are going too, so i'll be sleeping in their hotel room, but hopefully i'll be able to see you.
