Kathryn Janeway
300+ years from today, an amazing person will be born. A person that got me into science fiction. Kathryn Janeway is one of my all time favourite female characters. She's got gumption, humour, sensitivity and a clear head on her shoulders, even though I sometimes wanted her to get it on with Chakotay already and not be thinking about the crew...look what a fat load of good it did her to deny herself that happiness! I'm told that a writer killed her off in one of the books!!! That's why I'm not reading the books...and also one of the reasons why I STILL haven't finished watching season 7 of Voyager, even though I own all the seasons on DVD.
Kathy, like her on again-off again boyfriend Q calls her, was a lot of fun to watch, she made Neelix sort of bearable (I'm still not sold on that little annoying....), she made the change from Kes to Seven OK, she made the frustration of seeing P/T and never J/C almost OK. I loved seeing her in the different costumes (like Katrine in The Killing Game) and she really really kicked ass in Macrocosm (which is incidentally my favourite episode).
When we finally found out in Year of Hell, that she was born on May 20th, it made perfect sense to me (since it was my dad's birthday, and he was one of my favourite people), I decided that I liked her even more.
I got distracted by the following video, so this will not be any longer - instead, enjoy this video :D
