dream casting: ouran high school host club
This thread over at aramatheydidnt got me to thinking about the potential awesomeness of an Ouran drama. Maki used to be my favourite choice for Haruhi too but, after the success of Hana-Kimi, I think it would just be too much of the same.
The thought about which other actress would be perfect for Haruhi drove me to distraction until I ended up making an entire dream team. XD (I'm entirely too biased towards various people and it shows. :P That's what makes it my dream casting.)
Eikura Nana as Fujioka Haruhi
Pretty much perfect, am I right? ;)
Ikuta Toma as Suō Tamaki
There may be better choices appearance-wise, but I just think Toma-kun has the heart and personality needed to pull Tamaki off. And I don't think this is really Nakatasu 2.0, though his performance in that role is one of the main reasons I chose him for this one.
Mukai Osamu as Ōtori Kyōya
After Nana, Mukai Osamu was the second actor I cast. Once I stared at a picture of Kyōya long enough, I couldn't help but see him. I wish I could have found a good picture of him from Hachimitsu to Clover, because the glasses just make it obvious.
Takagi Manpei & Shinpei as Hitachīn Hikaru & Kaoru
I only very vaguely know who these guys are; I couldn't even tell you who would play who but, seriously -- there are only a handful of identical twin actors that I could find and these two were the only ones I even recognised. Victors by default, or something. :P I had originally thought about casting one actor as both, but the twins are just too important.
Seto Koji as Honey (Haninozuka Mitsukuni)
Okay, casting Honey was a bit tricky. He & Mori are older than the others, but Honey looks so much younger and is pretty small too. I ended up going with Seto Koji because I think he has the maturity personality-wise, but he also still has that babyface going on.
Suzuki Ryohei as Mori (Morinozuka Takashi)
He has the physical presence to carry it off and, well, he has the upper body strength needed to hoist & carry Honey. :D
And, how about some bonus casting?
Becky as Hōshakuji Renge
Beautiful but insane? That pretty much describes every role Becky has ever played. :P (I loved her in the Nodame Cantabile SP; she was hilarious!)
Kimura Takuya as Fujioka Ryōji
I was trying to think of an actor who could appear old enough to be Haruhi's father & I guess that I've just had Kimura on the mind recently. :D I have no idea what that bottom picture came from, but it was just serendipity. (I Googled Kimura + crossdressing & found it. I've watched enough Japanese media to know that there was a good chance I'd find something with those terms. XP)
Now that you've seen who I chose, what's your Ouran dream cast? I'm curious!
