Anthony Bourdain was on Chicago Public Radio's Sound Opinions this past Friday. You can find details & the mp3
here.
The fourth & *sob* final season of The 4400 will be out on DVD on May 6th. There aren't many details as of yet, but
here's the box art.
Sarah Michelle Gellar makes her feelings known about doing a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.
And Variety is reporting that
this year's Paley Festival will be featuring a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion.
[Ed. Both of the above BtVS links had personal commentary when originally posted. After realising that I came across as a bitter & somewhat crazed fan, I removed it. I am a bitter & crazed fan, but I don't need to advertise it. *rinses brain out with soap*]
Now that Katherine Heigl has become so popular, the studio behind Roswell is seeking to capitalise on that.
All three seasons of Roswell are being rereleased with new packaging -- Katherine is featured more prominently (and Emilie de Ravin is included on the s2 package). I'm sure Heigl-haters are having fun with this, but eh -- I like the art (and KH :P).
If you're planning to purchase some older Doctor Who serials, you may want to wait a little.
TV Shows On DVD has a list of serials that will be coming down in price starting in March.
This is a good review of Cory Doctorow's After the Siege, but it's also an excellent essay on why the science fiction genre deserves more respect than it gets.
John Barrowman hopes to play Jack for several more years. He really loves working on Torchwood. (No big spoilers for anything, but John promises that we'll get to know more about Jack in this season.)
Marvel & Lionsgate have worked out agreements with the Writers Guild. Marvel is currently working on Iron Man & The Incredible Hulk, while Lionsgate produces shows like Mad Men (among other things).
As you may already know, the new Bond film is titled Quantum of Solace. Sci Fi Wire has
video highlights from the press conference. And BBC News has
casting & filming news.
The executive producer of Jericho talks about
who & what will be the focus of the second season. (I'd say it's moderately spoilery.)
And
Jericho's fate may be decided early on. The EP says that she should know by the third or fourth episode what'll happen, and the WGA strike may be tipping the scales in the show's favour.
For a show I'm not fond of, I've got lots of news about it tonight.
Sci Fi Channel has bought the rights to Jericho & they'll be airing a 4-episode marathon on February 11th.
If you've already seen Cloverfield, you may be interested to know that
there are some 'little easter eggs' in the film itself. There are spoilers in the article!
Screenshots of the menu for the s1 DVD release of The Invisible Man
have been released. It's a little thing, but it means that the DVDs are one step closer to becoming reality. ;)
The release date for Battlestar Galactica s3 has been pushed up! The DVDs will be coming out on March 18th.
TV Shows On DVD has some menu shots, which may be of interest to some folk because of the bonus features they highlight.
I've got a thing for menu shots this update, it seems. :P
This time it's the menu for Sliders s4 -- as well as the box art.
The upcoming season of Top Chef was filmed in Chicago &
there are three chefs from Chicago in the running.
In a recent interview,
it seems that Ellen Muth implied that Dead Like Me could be revived as a series, if the movie does well. I'm a bit excited. What I've seen of Henry Ian Cusack looks great, even though I am a bit sad that Mandy isn't in this. (He was still working on Criminal Minds at the time. And, given his return to doing stage tours, I doubt he'd come back to doing television.) I doubt that losing Laura Harris was a detriment. (I like her, but I just didn't like her as Daisy.)
And this has been part one of 'see Vik clean out the backlog in her bookmarks'. Stay tuned for another special segment 'see Vik clean out the backlog in her inbox' later today.
