I'd love a pony, as long as it doesn't bite. (Random but relevant. Hee.)

I'm primarily updating my tv: watched list so that I can comment about Tin Man. Heh, I'm a bit anal retentive about organisation, if that wasn't clear enough already... :P

    TV: Watched
  • Bones. 1x17: The Skull in the Desert.
I've volunteered to transcribe this for 206_bones so I thought I'd get one last 'enjoyable' rewatch in. I have a feeling I'll be sick & tired of this episode by the time I finish.
  • 3x09: The Santa in the Slush.
OMG. There was so much to love -- Brennan spending Christmas with her family, Parker being an adorable little kid & saving his father's Christmas, the Christmas tree!, 'I'm all ears.', the kiss!, the entrance of 'puckish' into my vocabulary. ;) And the main storyline was even really neat. This episode really got me into the holiday mood.
  • Stargate Atlantis. 4x02: Lifeline & 4x03: Reunion.
I'd never really picked up on the whole Ronon/Elizabeth vibe before, but it was strong in these past few episodes. I like how Sam's placement has been written so far -- it's been rather uncomfortable for all parties & is thus pretty believable. As a Sam fan & SGA fan in general, I just hope things start going more smoothly soon. :/
  • Tin Man. Part One: Into the Storm, Part Two: Search for the Emerald, & Part Three: Tin Man.

It was worth all the waiting. So, so fantastic. It was great as a stand-alone piece, but knowing a fair bit about the movie & the original books makes it even better.

The cast all did a wonderful job. Zooey was fantastic as DG. She has this childlike way about it & it really added a lot towards the part. I'm not usually a big fan of Alan Cumming, but I can't see how anyone else could've played Glitch. There were moments when Glitch could have gone in a more pathetic direction, but Alan was able to channel humour in with the sadness. And don't get me started on Neal! *swoons* I'm even thinking about watching Band of Brothers just to see more of him.

I've seen a strong (but friendly!) division in the 'shipping section of the fanbase -- half prefer DG with Glitch, the other half prefers her with Cain. I must admit that I'm with the latter. :D Seriously, in part three, with the whole 'sending men into battle' & 'less hugging when he does it' (paraphrasing, of course) ... and THEN HE HUGS HER. *holds DG/Cain to my heart*

The relationship between DG & Azkadellia was the primary focus & I think they did an excellent job with it. There were numerous moments when they could've gone with the predictable plotting, but they switched things up. DG being hugely responsible for the ways things turned out & then being the only one who could stop it. Azkadellia being 'the good one' & DG the one who always got her sister into trouble. The ending was predictable (the frequent focusing on the hands through the different parts & the song), but it was a joy to watch.

If I had to pick a favourite scene, it's when DG goes to the 'Grey Gale'. AND IT'S DOROTHY FRIKKIN' GALE. In black & white (a reference to the movie). In ruby slippers (not coloured, but still obvious). That was most excellent, even if it was a rather short scene.

I'm not a purist at all when it goes to Oz-related stuff, so I can't nitpick about how they did this or that wrong. My only real issues were with the questionable special effects (especially towards the end of Part One, when Glitch & Raw are trying to escape from the monkey-bat-things) & the rather abrupt ending. The ending worked, but I was rather hoping for something more ... majestic. The royal family back on their thrones, something like that. But ... still. So much damn love.
