This is the reality I choose to accept.

Alright, after explaining why I don't talk about my personal life much a few days ago, I'm inclined to mention why I don't talk about real life too much (in terms of 'real life that doesn't affect fandom-type things'). Those who have been here for a few years might remember that I'd talk about politics and stuff every so often, usually when something happened to piss me off. The pissing off part? That's the reason I don't talk about much that's happening in the world.

I'm quite well-informed. I get my news from several different sources (CNN is timely but there's a conservative bias, Reuters is pretty good, and BBC News is considerably better.) I get tech news from Wired; entertainment news from People, Entertainment Weekly, & ONTD (*facepalm*). I'd read a newspaper but the local one is a piece of trash. So just because I don't talk about what's going on, that doesn't mean I don't know what's going on. (I just don't want you to think I'm stupid, alright?)

I have strong opinions. I get angry. And if I let myself get angry about everything stupid thing in the world, I'd never be able to stop. I haven't stuck my head in the sand, though my reactions are usually expressed with things like online petitions & emails to various government entities. I don't humour myself that I actually make a difference, my voice is usually just one of thousands. (But every voice counts, in a way. Thousands don't get to be thousands by themselves.)

There's just enough negativity in the world today and I'd rather not rehash it all in my LJ. That may make me avoidant and shallow, but it helps me stay sane. I really just felt the need to put this out there in the open.

I'm not sure if this puppy is cute, an example of vanity breeding gone bad, or both. (This isn't helping me appear not shallow, is it? But ... puppy!)

PopGurls interviewed Patrick Flueger of The 4400. No spoilers, as far as I could tell. I think I might be the last person to realise that he was in The Princess Diaries. Heh.

A MSNBC blogger muses on whether Pushing Daisies is the best new show of the year.

Someone is returning to Battlestar Galactica. I love casting spoilers, but it's hard to know when to squee in public.

When Stargate Atlantis returns this fall, it'll have a new timeslot.

This isn't fandom strictly, but ... my blog, my rules. :P There's a new Sims game coming out for the console gamers, The Sims 2: Castaway. It looks so neat! (The link goes to the PS2 page, because ... well, I have a PS2.)

I'm behind on comments, my apologies! I hope to get to replying later today. I hope. (I suck at time management.)
