Yesterday, in a darkened room ... I read. Then I slept.

Harry Potter & The Chamber Of Secrets
Okay, this passage always bugs me for some reason. In the car on the way back to the Burrow, Harry & the Weasley boys are talking about who might have sent Dobby to him as a joke. At the mention of Draco, George actually has to ask if that's Lucius Malfoy's son. Now - George & Fred know pretty much everything about Hogwarts. How could they honestly not know who Draco is? It just struck me as ... a cop-out so that JK could mention Lucius as soon into the book as possible.

Arthur is the kind of father that everyone wants, I think. He's like a big kid - and it is so obvious where the twins get their streak of humour from. I really like how he was portrayed in the movie as well.

I feel totally sympathetic for Hermione when Ron calls her on her 'decorated' class schedule. It probably speaks horrendous volumes about me when I confess that I was still doing that in high school. :X

Colin doesn't strike me as stalkerish in the book as he does in the movie. He seems like a cute [albeit energetic] little kid. And standing up to Draco in defence of Harry took a lot of courage. Now I can see the whole Colin/Ginny idea - I don't ship them but I can see the appeal.

Lockhart! ::explodes with laughter:: I can't believe how totally into himself he is. Well, I can but ... He so doesn't get that beating the Dark Lord is worth way more than vanquishing some spirits & various lesser monsters.

Argh. When the Slytherins crash the pitch, now Fred asks if Draco is Lucius Malfoy's son. Sorry ... it just irritates me.

Fred & George have a lot of class. I really liked how they almost attacked Draco after he called Hermione a mudblood.

I had never really noticed it until someone mentioned it but ... when Ron is talking about why he hates spiders so much, he explains it as being due to Fred transfiguring his teddy bear when he was three years old. Fred would only have been 5 or so at the time. That's either a slip-up or else Fred was a gifted child.

I used to lump Fred & George together with Oliver in the whole 'Quidditch is everything' group but ... they were willing to forfeit the game against Slytherin just to keep Harry away from the rogue Bludger. That's a real statement about what they hold dear. *wants to cuddle them ... yes, both of them*

Myrtle needs someone to share her toilet. She's lonely! If you spent fifty years as a ghost stuck in a bathroom, you'd want someone to die there too.

Harry Potter & The Prisoner Of Azkaban
I really like how JK gives owls personalities of their own. Errol is like the little engine that couldn't & Hedwig ... actually, she kind of reminds me of Hermione at times.

Did Harry actually call the Knight Bus? I keep rereading that passage & it's not clear to me ... because I'm an idiot, probably.

I would have thought that Hermione would have chosen an owl as a pet. Owls are more useful to wizards & witches in the long run. Though Crookshanks does have his purposes.

I can't believe that they never went into why Ginny had such a bad reaction to the Dementor. At least Hermione tried to comfort her. [That's given me a bunny.]

Oliver alternately makes me laugh or pisses me off. Right now I'm kind of pissy. His Seeker falls fifty feet to the ground, his Seeker's broom gets violently destroyed. And he acts, despite what he says, like it was all Harry's fault. [Bunnies. They're multiplying!]

McGonagall should have learned by Book 3 that Lee Jordan brings his own style of commentary to Quidditch.

Rereading PoA has given me a new realisation of the dynamics of the Trio. I think it'll always be Harry & Ron, with Hermione circling the outside. It seems like most of the time they are either mad or annoyed with her for something or another. It seems the only times they really appreciate her for herself is when she is in grave danger or when she gets them out of some fix.

I should reread more often. I didn't catch it the first time around but even Remus thought that Sirius was the killer. I've been reading too much happy-as-possible S/R fanfic ... this kind of changes things in my head. Makes how I see Sirius more bitter than before.

Remus/Hermione/Sirius is so my new OT3. And any combination of the three could possibly be my OTP.

This passage ... makes me want to read/write lots & lots of Sirius/Hermione.

"Er - Mr. Black - Sirius?" asked Hermione.
Black jumped at being addressed like this & stared at Hermione as though he had never seen anything quite like her.

<3!

Percy must either be a good kisser or be great in bed. How else could Penelope put up with him for so long?!

I'm halfway through GoF & then just have OotP to read & I'll have all the canon down for the next year or so. XD
