I got a comment from someone wishing me a happy birthday who only identified themself as "UC". My best guess is that means Uncle Chris. Which, if he's able to take time out from his job serving our country in Bahrain to read my LiveJournal, I feel pretty honored.

My dear friend Sara Taber gave me a book called "Grammar Snobs Are Great Big Meanies" for my birthday. It's a book of mini-essays on the quirks of language and grammar, full of hilarious anecdotes. (Is it really nerdy that I find grammar humor funny?)

My friend Laura made me the most wonderful CD of music I've never heard by people I've never heard of.

It was so nice outside today. I went to Lion's Park in Niceville with a friend and we fed some stale popcorn she had found in her car to the seagulls. There were several people at the park, some on picnics, there were a few kids flying a kite. It was so nice, and the water was just beautiful.

Living in this area, I have access to one of the most amazing sights in nature, water, and yet, it's very rare that I actually stop and look at it.
