Been looking around at different distros. Will prob use Ubuntu Server for the NAS box, but am delaying setting it up until I've had a chance to play with the GL. 64 megs of RAM limit my selection to old or lite distros. Damn Small Linux seems to be one of the most recommended. Have an ISO for DeLi Linux, as well as the current vers of PuppyOS, ( Read more... )

ISA? Ugh! Ugh! Ugh! Bad memories of an ISA modem with pass-through connection to shitty soundcard come flooding back!

Calm down ques; your psychologist will be doing overtime ;)

Given that the GL is ~11 years old, it has a mix of ISA and PCI. Using that ancient sound card means keeping a PCI slot open for more useful cards.

Did I mention that mp3s play fine (in real time ;) ) on this box using xmms running under dsl? :D That said, my ipod nano is slight more portable (and possibly has more processing power).
