I are Sims Sig. This are Sims thread.

It's just such a relief to work on a computer and not have to worry about Parallels, Exchange Server, or Remote Desktop. So I've been unwinding by playing the Sims, and specifically in recreating two families: The Utonium family and the Mythbusters family. ( Sadly, no pics yet. )

television, geekery, sims, gaming

Squee! Grant Mythbuster! Squee! Squee!

I hope your computer will quit crashing, because I'd love to see Grant. (I love him, you know.)

I have had two casual woohoos now. The second time was a married couple. I'm still waiting for more exciting things to happen.

Do you know what STR and LTR stand for?

Squee, squee! Grant!

Oh, no. I'm sure that Jamie will hand-craft a Servo to be Buster. Hell, at the rate he's plowing through the badges, maybe by the end of the week....

STR: short-term relationship. Conversely, LTR: long-term relationship. You know how you spend one day talking to a Sim and your relationship numbers are 50/10 or some such? That's the STR/LTR.

And w00t for casual woohoos!

I'm sad to say I'm not quite happy with the way that Grant came out -- I can't look at him and immediately recognize him as Grant. (So I could use tips, or even a hand-crafted Sim...!)

STR/LTR: Thank you. I couldn't figure it out. I should have known that.

I'd love to build Grant for you, but if you have Pets, he won't work in your game. :( I don't have and don't want Pets.

If you don't have Pets, but you have Uni and OFB, I can do it, I think. Oh crud, you have Pets, as I see below. Sorry. Hmm.

One thing you have to make sure you do when you build Grant is, on the eyes, make them shallow set, not deep set. It helps with both the epicanthic fold and also he does have a bit of a bulge underneath.

I'll mess around tomorrow in the sim making screen and see how close I can get. I'll note all the positions, and if you like him, I'll share.

And a servo Buster! Perfect! I'll tell Bren.

Was just thinking....Bren has Pets. Bren and I might be able to make him together on Bren's machine and then package him out of Body Shop. (Asians are tough in the Sims. The game doesn't represent them well in the CAS screen, and then they look totally different in the game. :P)

I'll ask him tomorrow. I'm off to bed now!

Well, here's the MythBuster family as they stand at the moment:

Okay, it's 1:30 am. If mistaking a webpage URL for an image URL is the worst thing I do, I'll be happy. So let me try that again:

I love the Utonium family! I totally recognize the girls!

Kate's right about Grant. It looks like you probably used the default Japanese face to start (I love how there are only three recognizably Asian default faces in the CAS screen, grrrrr), which is good. His face does need a touch of shortening up and just a bit of pooching in the lower cheeks. It's hard to tell in that screen whether the eyes are shallow enough.

(In game, it only lets you close up so far, but you just hit the pause at the bottom, then touch the cursor to the top of your screen at drift at the Sim until you get where you want to be.)

The eyes and the nose are the hard part and how we recognize people. I think you have Grant's nose right for sure.

Adam and Jamie look great! Kari looks good, too. I don't immediately recognize Tory; I'd like to see close up if he has "that nose." *g*

These are great, though!

Also, I think you can download a "Roman style" haircut from MTS2 if you want to try something like that for Adam's hair. Then it could be recolored, lightened.

Found it; looks like Adam's due for a makeover. And Grant just might have surgery in his near future. Time to power up some of the more elaborate cheats....

Yeah, Grant doesn't really look like Grant. His face is too long. Dunno if you could make his face more round; the boy is about as circular as you can get.

Adam will appreciate the extra hair. :)

But yes-- these are brilliant.

I've noticed he's been growing it out as of late. I'm not sure I like it, but I figured I'd err on the side of over-shrubbery.
