The Friday Five
It seems that only spikesgirl58 posts these questions anymore, rather than the little community, so I am grateful for her endless curiosity.
1. Have you ever been in or caused a car accident? I have been in several and rear-ended someone once when caught in a sudden downpour and the brakes wouldn’t engage fast enough. No serious injuries in any of them, though.
2. Have you ever had a happy accident? I don’t think of them that way. I am always looking for opportunities that arise from something else. Personally the most recent one is the discovery of curried deviled eggs. I read something about curried eggs, found a completely different recipe than the original, and it is now a favourite for breakfast. Professionally, it is seeing a couple of the women’s organizations we support in Afghanistan shifting from more traditional sewing and business classes because of COVID concerns to mass-producing masks, gowns and gloves for the Ministry of Public Health.
3. Have you ever done anything ‘accidently on purpose’ and regretted it? Not that I can think of. I’m pretty good at deliberately forgetting my failures in life though. That doesn’t always work out for the best so maybe that’s my answer?
4. Do you think the kitchen or the bathroom in your house has seen more accidents? Kitchen, I think. Mostly involving knives and dropped crockery.
5. Do you believe nothing happens by accident but rather by destiny? I fall fairly firmly into the accident category because destiny doesn’t just happen. I make my destiny. I’m not very good at it sometimes, but it is my own.
