Little bits of happy

Yesterday I went with several friends to see The Nutcracker, in a very Canadian production. The backdrops are from paintings by The Group of Seven, the characters are lumberjacks, forest animals and birds, and stereotypically Canadian plants, plus Mounties. This year, the production added in a moose. Afterwards, I introduced two of them to Persian food. They shared some mantu (I love them but had mantu for supper on Friday and still felt full), and we shared firnee for dessert. I had enough stew and rice left over to make a lovely breakfast.

Today it was still miserably cold but I walked to church and it wasn't unpleasant. Well, except for the part about forgetting that I was reader and sidesperson, and barely made it on time for the service - far too late to do my duty as greeter. But I was in time to ring the bells, my favourite part.

On the way home, I decided to buy a tree and carry it myself. It was fine for most of the way, but near the end some random stranger came up behind me and offered to help me carry it the rest of the way.

church, dance, food, christmas, friendship
